A very fun game with plenty to do if you want to try out all the different classes and 100% the game. I'd love to see different runs and maybe some additional classes in the future.
There are a few issues with balancing and NG+ endgame, however the devs have mentioned they're looking into solutions

Game's good. Definitely doesn't deserve mixed reviews.
The game modes are fun. Performance, while not optimal, is acceptable.
The kernel level anti-cheat is on par with other AAA games that use similar solutions.

Hands down one of the best games I've ever played.
An open world RPG that actually contains a good story, memorable characters, and fun gameplay

As someone who could rattle on about TES lore for years, I had pretty high hopes for another Bethesda universe, only to be disappointed at a narrative riddled with poor pacing, uninspired plot twists, and jarring fetch quests. Everyone at Constellation lack depth, personality and dialogue that isn't "I feel X because of Y".

The exploration feels shallow and repetitive. Planets lack distinctiveness. Places don't even have real names, just a bunch of "Deserted UC Listening Posts" and "Abandoned Cryo Lab" with the same layouts and sprites. Comparing against Fallout 4 and Skyrim, this is a huge step backwards. Nowhere that you explore naturally has any storytelling or meaning. No named NPCs that have distinct features, no notes, holotapes or slates with in-universe trivia, not even any environmental storytelling like the skeletons in Fallout. Everywhere feels cookie-cutter. And for reference, Starfield has around 40 POIs (Points of Interest) where Oblivion has ~250 and Skyrim has ~200.

And getting from your ship to these unnamed places feels like a punishment for wanting to explore because you have no choice but to jump and jet pack there and back for 10 minuets. Due to the nature of the 'vast unknown', there's nothing to interact with during your gruelling walk to the location marker. Sure you can scan things, like Lead or Tetraflourides, but there is only so many times you can scan them without wondering "Why do I bother".

Probably the coolest part of this game, the shipbuilder, ends up meaning absolutely nothing because in this space exploration RPG, there's hardly anything to do out there. No escort quests, no protecting mining ships, no nothing. Space battles are few and far between and while they play well and the game play actually feels fun, there're over within a couple of minuets max. I would of liked to see an approach similar to Elite Dangerous and have 'conflict zones' where you can join in and aid whichever faction you choose.

There's a million things I could complain about... The game isn't terrible, The game play is fun (when you're actually doing something) but its not something I could recommend playing because I think it's a dead IP. At the moment, no amount of DLC or mods are going to be able to fix what I think is fundamentally wrong with the game.
