I remember playing this on my friend's computer back in the late 1990's. I would spend the night at his place hanging out and I would stay up most of the night playing one of the many games he had. He preferred DOS and Linux over Windows, so I learned a lot about those OS's from him. I really enjoyed playing through the Commander Keen series especially, it was an interesting platformer, and I liked it much better than Super Mario. I've always wondered if the Commander Keen series was ever released to console, how popular could it have become? Good thing I have DOSBox! I can play this game exactly how I used to.
This is NOT for gamers into newer platform games... unless you want to play this for research. The controls are a bit clunky, the levels are more suited to someone maybe grade-school age, the graphics alone tell you how old this game is. More than anything, I'm playing and enjoying this for pure nostalgia. If you don't mind a simple platformer with a simple premise, something to pass the time- Commander Keen fits that bill! Plus, it has a cuteness factor, so theres that. Completely enjoyable for what it is.
