The Witcher 3 has been a game that has sat in my library. I didn't play it because I knew nothing about the lore of the series and therefore I couldn't really connect with any of the characters at first.

At first.

But now 60 hours later in the game over the course of just a couple of weeks, I have found myself drawn in by its miraculously grim tale of death, love, and really ugly monsters.

The game itself is just absolutely gorgeous and the characters all seem to have vivid personalities that will react to your actions according to their feelings. Whether it be the next day or weeks later down the main quest-line, you will see the consequences of your triumphs. I must say I didn't really believe in the idea of "choices matter" until a priest sent a gang of fake guards to have me assassinated because I embarrassed him in front of a bunch of the local peasants. I mean, even the smallest of feats will bear fruit later in the game and I find that extremely appealing in a game, to live in a world that evolves around you because of you and not because of some scripted god.

Playing as Geralt of Rivia was sort of weird at first because I felt like I was a stranger to the world that he was so well acquainted with. Not to mention all the characters seem to know him and I found myself scratching my head just trying to piece together earlier lines of dialogue to get the complete story of who is who. I still find myself doing this but I must say... it isn't a tiring thing. If anything, it makes me appreciate Geralt and the other characters even more.

The romance is also tastefully done. Although, I grew increasingly mad the more close women would get to Geralt because I have found myself to have fallen in love with him myself. Yennefer and Triss are both extraordinarily beautiful and have their differences but I must say they are both really well done characters and I could see Geralt having major trouble choosing one of them! As for myself, I denied everyone for no one will have Geralt but me.

The gameplay is overwhelming at first but after a few contracts I found myself making use of all of the mechanics in the game. Whether it be from potions and bombs or signs and counterattacks. It was challenging and rewarding at the same time and there was never a dull moment! However, after doing almost all the side-quests before progressing through the story, I found myself very over-leveled and the gameplay started to get extraordinarly easy. For my next playthrough, I'll be sure to make sure the difficulty is on Deathmarch.

And holy moly, the scenery is to die for! This game is definitely one to farm screenshots in because every moment of exploring, hunting, or flirting is brimming with perfect snapshot moments.



Overall, the Witcher 3 is a gem among the pile of mediocre games that seem to plague our existence. This is a masterpiece of a creation and I can thoroughly recommend this game to everyone- human or nonhuman.
