I like the concept, but not so much the execution.

My main gripe is with the survivor gameplay. It gets old quite fast. The objective is always the same: restart generators, avoid the killer, save your teammates from the hook, open the gate, escape. It kinda feels like a trial for something that could have been more. Most actions take what feels like an eternity and so far it hasn't felt like the characters and items really make that much of a difference. They're nice bonuses, but the effects are usually quite minimal or short-lived. Sometimes both.

I haven't played the killer much because you have to rely on random matchmaking chance to kill your friends if you don't have enough players for your own game. Even just having the option to fill in empty spaces with the bots would be nice. The killer mechanics do actually look varied and more interesting. Seems like that's where most of the work was put in.

Came across this on Xbox Game Pass. I've really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ into this style of games recently and the dice rolling aspect makes it a lot more engaging. It has a lot of content too, so it'll probably keep me busy for a while

You probably don't need me to tell you how good this game is. Unless you live under a rock, you already know.

Definitely worth checking out. I actually claimed it from my Humble Monthly, not expecting to be so into it but thought I should give it a shot. It's fast-paced, difficult, has co-op, and is a roguelite. Checked all my boxes.

A little gem I was surprised by with the Humble Bundle. It's creepy, fun, and engaging. Lots of items, enemies, and different builds you can play with.

It's still a great game for the most part, but I'd grab it on sale. Probably the best competition there is for a left 4 dead-like game. The levelling system kept me occupied for quite a while, but the lack of mod support really hinders replayability beyond that, something that kept me going on left 4 dead 2 for a very long time. Still, it feels really good to mow down hundreds of zombies in a row. And I like the class system a lot.

But jesus christ the devs really need to get their ♥♥♥♥ together. I swear every update introduces new bugs and I'm often left wondering how they even managed to break stuff it doesn't seem like the updates were touching. They eventually fix them, rather than leaving them, which is nice, but in just the one year I've been playing, they've broken way too many things (challenge modifiers were listed incorrectly for a while, some perks like stim revive wouldn't work, the infinite bandage deploy animation was a mess, silencers were recently busted on *core* guns making the game much harder, I have an annoying notification for a crossbow modification I can't get rid of, and currently the undying modifier makes lurkers have an absurd amount of health). And these things are incredibly obvious, core gameplay mechanics usually. They shouldn't be slipping through

I like the core gameplay of Dead Rising, I really do. But no co-op campaign was a big turn-off for me, and the close-quarters combat somehow became even clunkier than DR3. They didn't learn from the mixed reviews of DR3, instead releasing another unpolished game and I'm really not a fan of this trend.

I've been playing the multiplayer mode with a friend recently and it's alright, but I keep running into a bug where I have a phantom melee weapon that prevents me from using all unarmed attacks (it swings like I'm holding a weapon but doesn't actually hit anything) if I don't have a melee weapon equipped. The only way for me to fight back is to find another weapon, so if I'm in a crowd with no remaining weapons, it's pretty hard to get out.

To me it's like Metal Gear Survive. I really liked certain parts of that game and saw the potential, but how it plays really pushes players away.

The game, when it works, isn't terrible. I actually like the gameplay.

But holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell this ♥♥♥♥ runs so terribly. It's constantly freezing, with a 100% chance to do it during every cutscene, but also it crashes a lot. And since you must save at certain points, that means you have to do that ♥♥♥♥ all over again. It just crashed because some dude with a rifle bashed me while I was beating down someone else with a pipe. So guess I have to do that entire sequence all over again. Fun.

Also it doesn't even have achievements on Steam.

A really good game that I played once years ago and wrote off. Thankfully I came back to it. The combat is really nice and this game will beat your ass even before you get to New Game+.

Speaking of which, if you want to get to that, the puzzles AREN'T optional. Some of them are also tough as ♥♥♥♥ to figure out so good luck. And after all that, if you're feeling a little annoyed with a certain someone at the end, act on it. That ♥♥♥♥♥ deserves it. Just remember, no more gods.

Oh and the name. I've had so many comments about me playing a game about "furries". That one maybe wasn't thought through the best loooooooooooool

Combat was actually really fun, but most of this game is a walking simulator, even when you're running instead of walking. Story was just alright. Honestly just finished it so I could get the 100% achievements.
