It's worth buying for £10.

The Good:
- Graphics are solid and accurate to the game.
-I encountered no game breaking bugs and only 1 crash in my entire play through of the game.
-Core gameplay is functional and the factions do play slightly differently.

The mixed:
-Game play is slow, in a weird way, everything from movement, building and combat just seem slower than you'd expect.
-It's not a true RTS there's no meaningful base building more of a lane battler.
-The plot is as predictable as any of the other generic Warhammer games.
-This might be a personal one but I'm not a fan of the every unit has an activated ability system.

The Bad:
-The controls and handling are not great, units can be very unresponsive, many times units wouldn't respond to commands in any sort of reasonable manner. I also had several instances where units would stop short of where I'd clicked/needed them to go to trigger an action. I believe this is partially due to melee combat having a sort of vortex that will suck in nearby units even if they're not engaged.
-Nearly all range units use a fixed arc of fire and act like stationary artillery pieces, this ends up with instances where they're unengaged and completely ignoring enemy units coming in beside them. This makes sense for the actual artillery pieces but not bow/crossbow/ranged magic units.

I feel bad for the developers care was put into shaping the game and from a functional perspective it's in better shape that most new releases. The gameplay is just a bit bland and the story a rehash of the exact same act 3 that at least 6 other Warhammer games have used to the point it's not a surprise its expected.

The Games story looks like it would be interesting and I'm loath to give a not recommend review.

Unfortunately as others have mentioned something is off with the QTE tracking and there does not appear to be a fix for it.
To explain in more detail, certain QTE's that cause a slow-mo effect (combat or chase sequences) won't register the majority of your inputs.
From testing on the "tutorial" of this QTE version I suspect what happens is the mouse controls tolerate no wiggle on the direction. Which is fine if you're using a controller, however if you're using a mouse your motion will naturally curve based on your hands reach.

This hasn't yet blocked progress as failing them hasn't caused a game over but it's almost certainly putting the game down the "bad" end. More importantly it's making the game quite frustrating as valid inputs are not being counted.

8.5/10 A very fun adventure, if you have Thalassophobia this is in the horror genre for sure.
Estimated completion time if going in blind: 25-30 hours, but you could likely get up to 40 hours if you're taking it slow.

-The Good:-
>Visuals are vibrant and pleasing to the eye.
>Story telling is solid.
>While survival/building mechanics are common now, it does it well and is one of the older ones to do so.
>Aside from the occasional visual bugs my entire play through was bug free.
>My heart was racing when forced to go to deep dark places or out in the open waters.

-The not so good:-
>At about mid-way through the game the path to continue can be hard to find, additionally I was missing a critical blueprint and had to resort to looking at a wiki to figure out how to unlock it as the game provides no hints (hint: certain blueprints can only be found uniquely in individual wrecks).
>In the latter half most challenge is removed and it can be a little bit of a grind, this didn't however detract from the gameplay.

This is a review of the game as it currently is I will update as it changes:

Pro's:
It's the same FF games we all know and love.
New updated soundtrack.

Cons:
Major porting issues,
Character models will load and unload during non-FMV sequences, and as funny as seeing Tidus talk to a floating pair of eyelashes is the first time it quickly wrecks the story experiance.
Crashes occur when set to anything other than minimal settings.
The game does not appear to want to use graphics cards by default, this as can be seen by the forums is one of many current issues.

Verdict:
I can't recommend it at the moment as it's pretty unplayable without frustration this is due to the porting quality rather than the game though.

I'll split this review into a technical and gamplay section. Unfortunately I have not finished the game yet but I'm far enough in that I feel a review is needed. (TL/DR The game has a spate of technical issues that make it an exersise in frustration to get the game to a playable state).

Technical:
-Had to manually create the textures folder (to fix the pop in issue), a well known issue since release it seems.
-Had to update and then partially disable drivers (to fix cutscene crash bug) again a well known and common issue.
-In engine cutscenes go out of video/audio sync (odd since the rest of the gameplay is smooth) again a common issue as of yet have not found a working fix.
-Cinematic cutscenes have a stuttering issue.
-Weapons can occassionally disappear/become uniquipable (has not been game breaking for me but others report that you can lose the laser cutter which is needed to progress).
-No music volume control it's either on or mute

A quick look at the forums either on steam or the parent website shows that these are very common and persistant issues that have not been addressed since release.

Gameplay (Max difficulty approx half way through).
+ quite nice visuals
+Hidden areas and items just like the older games
o The game does the semi stealth mechanic that most shooters have now days.
- Enemy AI suffers from the form a line and run at him one at a time syndrome

Aside from the technical issues would make a passable shooter.

The game succeeds in telling a reasonable fun story and in getting its message across. Depending where you are in your life you may identify with it. Would recommend, it is free after all so no reason not to.
