this game can be frustrating... like, really frustrating
the combat isn't hard, but the puzzles are tedious... feels like it's in an uncanny valley of retro and modern gaming, so while i expect a polished experience, i'm mostly getting jank, even after the 20th anniversary
i can respect what half-life 2 has done for video games... but i don't like it that much :<

update:
nvm about all that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i wrote

this game is great!!! i usually don't like vehicles in games, and to be honest i don't really like anything but the airboat in this one. however, even a severely directionally challenged cretin like myself can get through just fine
combat is actually quite fun. very powerful game to finish.
episode 1 kinda sucked :[

As of four days ago, Rockstar has disabled access to Grand Theft Auto Online from all Steam Deck and Linux clients.

I use GTA Online to laugh my ass off with friends in closed lobbies. I've literally had some of the best moments of my entire gaming career through this medium, and I have been able to count on Online to lift my spirits every time I open the game. I have been disheartened by this news as a Linux user by volition, as have thousands of paying and satisfied Grand Theft Auto Online players.
On September 17th, 2024, Rockstar introduced and forced BattlEye anticheat services on all Grand Theft Auto Online lobbies, and clients, with no official announcement preceding or following BattlEye's implementation. There was no warning to any group of peoples. There was (and and continues to not be) a proper refund window for those affected, aside from basic storefront refund policies (i.e. Steam's famous "two hours or less" refund policy.) In BattlEye's implementation, by Rockstar's full and complete volition, GTA Online support has ceased for for all Linux machines, and all Steam Deck models. Rockstar, in the days to follow and in response to backlash from Linux and Steam Deck communities, have made official statements claiming that:

--The discontinuation of support is entirely on Valve, and not themselves. It is in their court to "fix" the situation.

--Linux is a breeding ground for cheaters and hackers with malicious intent. Discontinuation of support for Linux operating systems is in good faith to defend their player base from harm.

Rockstar, incredibly, has not done their homework before excluding a demographic of passionate gamers from being able to play a large part of what may possibly be the most positively critically received video game of all time, and more impressively yet, they've had the nerve to falsely pin GTA Online's discontinuation of support on Valve corp. In fact, Valve is entirely separate from GTA Online's cut support. In fact, Valve has had Proton (a compatibility layer that allows Windows games to run on Linux distributions) supporting BattlEye, the very anti-cheat Rockstar has implemented, since 2021! In fact, it is on Rockstar's own volition to exclude Linux and Steam Deck from playing on GTA Online. It would take an email from Rockstar Games to BattlEye Innovations to re-enable Steam Deck and Linux support for Grand Theft Auto Online once more.

To describe the situation as "unacceptable" would be a generous statement on the part of Rockstar Games. I have long been a fan of Rockstar's works, as have gamers everywhere. For little excuse other than crude incompetence, Steam Deck owners and Linux users across the globe have been betrayed and ignored, and it is once more, disheartening. I will not be supporting Rockstar Games in the future. I will not be purchasing Shark Cards. I will not be purchasing any of Rockstar's games directly. I will not be purchasing Rockstar Games merchandise. If it is possible in the future, I will be refunding all of my purchased Rockstar titles from all of my libraries.
Rockstar fans, you love this game as much as I do. Vote with your wallets.

Mascot horror has been a pretty long milked genre of games. Though Indigo Park shares the title, it doesn't fall into a category of being infinitely marketable and repeatable for purpose of profit. This is to say, Indigo Park is finally just a passionate freaking game in the genre.
An actual honest-to-god good time of a game.
I'm biased, because I'm probably somewhat within Indigo Park's target demographic of anthro-lovers, but that's face value evaluation. Indigo Park has clever dialogue, relatively consistent theming, and just a nice charm about it.
It's not strictly a horror game. The experience works best when you're convinced that there's horror to be found, but that info and the theming direction are basically mild spice on top of the Indigo dish. If you will, it acts as fuel for the greater (and pretty entertaining!) experience of getting a theme park in disrepair back together.
It's nice that nothing is dragged on for too long; puzzles and sequences are paced well.
I'm not going to talk about.. *him* too much (failed lol), because I feel this is a praised strong point ad nauseam, but there's one thing specially I can find to praise. Rambley will openly admit that the park isn't what it used to be at a point, and this is something I completely didn't expect. I wasn't sure if he was going to be loyal and delusional to the park's current condition, filling his purpose of only being a guide for your experience, or rather more human in nature with the ability to react realistically to scenarios. I find that with the latter approach taken, Indigo Park works *far* better. Rambley is the one genuine friend you have, (think how the companion cube worked well in portal by depriving the player of relatablility,) and he wants to revitalize his home with the player's help, He's not just doing it because his data sets artificially bias him to, it means something to him. He has genuine feeling; he misses the place. As well as giving the player incentive in pathos to help by showing what Rambley can feel, this design decision also lends him to being much more comedic when funny moments come. The contrast of a human? maybe sales biased? park guide, and (seemingly) soulless surrounding characters living together makes for a funny setup when everyone doesn't just get along with one another (of course, I mainly refer to Rambley's ride here, but Rambley reacting to the park's severe and gradual degradation can be leveraged for comedy, and pretty well at times too.)
I don't know man, I'm going on and on. I went into the game blind, and I found myself genuinely liking it by the end! There are occasional graphical glitches about, but I honestly want to blame unreal engine for this more than the developers themselves. This game sets an excellent tone for the series' future.
If there's one thing I want, its really only to expand upon rides that... aren't for toddlers. It *would* make for good stark contrast with the horror themes, but its just been done thousands of times before by now. To a point that, something less kiddish would end up being freakier.
I've been completely unorganized writing this review, these are raw feelings I guess, so I don't care I'm gonna say something really stupid to end this off
