So when i first played this game I thought it was well... Hard for me to say now at least, boring and trash. Repetative missions, easy enemies to lesser or greater extent, and well, no real challenge. But then something awesome happened.

The survival beta update as of recent.

Food, hydration and sleep are now serious factors in this game. Ammo now has weight, no radar for enemies anymore, enemies are now as deadly as you are (Don't expect to get out of gunfight with 3+ shots at medium range unscathed. Beware those super mutants, they hurt... Alot... Capacity has been severely reduced, hell, carrying too much ♥♥♥♥ will actually hurt you (Don't skip leg day kids). Oh, no saving either, don't want to make things too easy for you now do we? Ok, you can save, but only by sleeping in a bed. All of these are awesome suvival features but here's the one I want to talk about the most...

No fast travel. "That's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb, I can't get anywhere around the map as fast as I want".

Well let me tell you this. What if I told that if you spent time travelling from place to place carrying only a few weapons, a generous amount of ammo with food, water and the occassional antibiotic to survive each trip, and all the things you miss when you do fast travel. Walking along you find a what seems to be an old abandoned guard post, sneaking ever so silently you notice gunshots off in the distance past the structure. Moving alongside the building you see in the distance a 2 man raider party accompanied by their loyal guard mutt. "I can make these guys easy". But before you do, footsteps close in from behind, scaring the ♥♥♥♥ out of both you and the surprised raider. Pulling out your double-barrel shotgun not before he takes a pot shot at you with his own, severely damaging you. About to go for the second shot, you aim, VATS, and propel his body 4-feet away in a cartwhell fashioned bloody mess. You hear another raider, she's close but you don't know where. Your health is at a mere 20%, one more shot and you're done for. Taking cover in the guardpost, you sit, patiently, but scared. She's still out there. You can't even hear her foot steps. She's a quiet one. Two entrances into here. Covering one entrance, then another, then back again. You quickly jam two stimpacks into your gut in hope the extra health might help you survive at least one more bullet. Waiting, anxious, terrified. I could die here.

Her body quickly appearing through the right entrance, but she wasn't fast enough, pulling the trigger I blow her legs clean off, screaming immensely in pain.

Is it over?

Is that all of them?

...

This is the best I can describe one awesome encounter and the feelings I got when this unfolded. The game isn't easy anymore. It's a real challenge now. This update is one of the best things that could ever happen.

11/10 would highly reccommend with survival difficulty. Give it a go. You won't be dissapointed.
