Played the original and this sequel back to back, loved both. I liked the original's retro art more, but I think it's also possible the new art style made some clues easier to notice, so it's a bit of a toss up which is actually better. I also think the scenario design has improved: a couple of the later scenarios really had my brain in a twist, and only once did I get really stuck on a form required to unlock the next chapter. The story has some great payoffs, and I'm quite looking forward to the DLC to see the loose ends continued.

You should already know if you want to play this just from "minesweeper" and "1559 painting 'Netherlandish Proverbs'". If yes, buy.

The game has an enormous performance bottleneck that doesn't happen in the early levels but will tank FPS dramatically, and it's not exactly clear as a player what's causing it. Jumping from being a slideshow back to full speed as soon as certain enemies are off screen is incredibly disconcerting, and it's sadly a big failure for this kind of game where you expect to have swarms appearing and dying on screen.
