Psychonauts 2 is a perfect sequel and I feel like we're all blessed that it exists at all, since there are so many horror stories about game development and this one almost had the same fate... but because of the great work practices of the team, the support of the community, and Double Fine being bought by Microsoft, we have an amazing game with so much love put into it. I have not shut up about this game since I played it and I really, truly feel like it is worth the full $60 USD.

The game design is absolutely gorgeous, the worlds are imaginative and fun, the mechanics are intuitive but easy to learn, and the characters and story are so well written. The characters and their backgrounds are absolutely the highlights for me and the only real downside to this game is that, at some point, the story has to end. It's an absolute joy to play, it was a satisfying 100%, and I really hope to see another game in the future that focuses on these characters (especially those close to Raz) again.

Psychonauts 2 continues where the first game left off, and while the first game helps with a lot of plot strings this game gets into, it is recapped in the beginning so you're not missing THAT much. I still would recommend playing the first game before this, but you can absolutely play this game and love it for what it is here. To echo another review, Psychonauts 2 really is what games SHOULD be.

Following the success of Doki Doki Literature Club, this game was mentioned frequently from its similar themes and how it handles the meta, so I decided to buy it for myself. I got the uncensored version of this game, so I don't know what Steam's normal version omits (other than the obvious) but the full story does hinge on adult elements as pretty major plotlines so you may not be getting all the context in the censored version of the game.

First and foremost, the game isn't nearly as violent as Doki Doki LIterature Club (in my opinion) nor does it play with horror elements as much. As an inverse, though, I would say the meta is much more involved in this story and the mechanics it introduces are really interesting. There is a small cast of characters that you get to know throughout the course of the game, so a lot of the writing focuses on them and ultimately it does a good job. The meta elements are there from the beginning, but doesn't truly kick in until after you go through two routes.

The third route of the game is where the meta shines the most and where it's the most fun, and the way it's structured prevents you from using a walkthrough to force your way through, which I thought was genius. I think the game is worth playing for the meta mechanics alone, since it was unique and fun to go through and it felt very satisfying to get through it the right way.

I did have higher expectations from all the praise this game got, but I have to say it didn't land for me. I can play through games with male protagonists w/ female romance just fine, both adult games and games for everyone, and I've enjoyed them and felt immersed in the story; this game, however, heavily favors a straight male player and certain scenes (including the climax of the story) end up breaking my immersion instead. There is one scene in particular where you are directly interacting with a character that I awkwardly scrolled past because it was so specific with its language and heavily depended on you being a male in real life. If you're a female player and you really enjoyed the elements (including the romance) from DDLC, I don't think you will enjoy this one as much or the outcome of the story. If you're the intended audience for the game, however, I think you'll be properly immersed.

Ultimately, I liked the game and I think it does a lot of interesting things with the story, but as a straight female player, some of the meta stuff couldn't land and it would've been better ultimately if the game played with the possibility of a real person of a different gender since it was so integral to the story. I do get that I am not the main audience for this kind of game so I'm not knocking down many points for that, it's just something to keep in mind if you're wanting to get the game for yourself.

Really glad I gave this game a shot and played it through. Fantastic game, very fun gameplay, great humor, lots of unexpected moments that were a joy to experience. There's so much extra stuff in this game if you take the time to explore, and you really should because that's where the game shines the most. I don't normally buy 60 dollar games-- way too much money for me-- but I was so impressed by this game that I'm not even going to hesitate buying Psychonauts 2. This game is an immense joy and I hope more and more people play it.

genuinely one of the few games i've played that recognizes women are sinners just like everyone else

Serious review: The characters are interesting, the routes are fun, the writing is great, and the tailoring mechanic is INCREDIBLE. I think the art can be a bit off in some parts, but it doesn't take me out of the story and there are some CGs that are nothing short of gorgeous. I also enjoy the choice-making in the game in the sense that there are no wrong answers and you are not punished for being curious about how a bolder or kinder response will play out. Normally there are only a few characters I will get attached to out of an otome but I really enjoy all of them in Tailor Tales, and I look forward to finishing all the character routes when they come out. Definitely looking into getting the Patreon version of this game. Huge kudos, and thank you to my friend for recommending this game to me!

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was one of my childhood games, I played it to death on the Gamecube, got the special chao, everything, and I've played it at least yearly since. I find myself still enjoying this game whenever I pick it up-- the PC port has given me no troubles whatsoever and it has the benefit of having a lot of the (arguably better) features from the Dreamcast.

The game is fun and has a ton of replay value, the music is fantastic, and the plot is fun in its own way. Sonic is often the king of campiness, or at least the king of "serious things happen but we miss the mark and end up being hilarious instead". The dub is a little messed up with how fast the game plays them, but it kinda adds to the charm IMO. There is a lot of challenge and mastering this game takes a lot of time and patience, but I would not say it is wholly frustrating except for a few stages.

The weaker parts of the game IMO are Tails' stages, and it's kind of obvious he was not intended to be, well... Tails. On the flipside, Eggman's stages which are fundamentally similar are a lot more fun and rewarding. My personal favorite stages are Knuckles', but I think all of them have great stages and gameplay.

Most of your hours of this game can and will go to the Chao gardens, though. They will be the reason there is so much replay value to the game, in addition to all the challenges and secrets in all the stages. The chao mechanics are complex and really interesting, and I wish more Sonic games had them. There's a lot of untapped potential there, but if you're curious about the chao, then this is the game where it shines the most.

I think anyone who is unsure about Sonic games should at least give this one a try to see if it's really for them or not. No Sonic game is perfect, but this one contains everything I want out of a Sonic game and more.

For the long wait of more Star Wars content (though this will be a very different case come the end of 2021 and all of 2022!) I decided to buy a lot of Star Wars titles that I never got to play as a kid. KotOR was one of them, and boy, it sold me on a type of game that I never thought I would get into before.

I was told going in that the combat itself is pretty clunky, but I honestly enjoyed myself and didn't get frustrated with combat too often. Even so, my favorite part of the game was exploring new areas and learning about characters through various quests. I went the good route, though my first playthrough had plenty of mistakes in it, so I'm actually planning to play another good route before I go the evil route and see how different the game is then.

I do think there are a few power imbalances here and there, so the game might be easier or difficult depending on what you do, but I guess that's the nature of these games sometimes. I wouldn't be against looking up a few guides on how to build your character if you find yourself struggling.

Overall, there's so much to get into and I find this game to be a real treat. Even though High Republic has taken over some elements of KotOR, it gives a lot of respectful homages to this game and provides some context that compliments the canon. I also was not spoiled on a plot twist in this game despite its age, so I felt very invested and attached to the characters and how they changed over the course of the game.

Totally recommend, though there are talks of a remaster, remake, or both-- coming sometime. I believe the base game is worth it, but you might want to keep your eyes out for some news.

This game used to be very fun for me, but as the updates came out more over time, it just really became a lot more frustrating to play and a lot less rewarding. I understand development can be a nightmare and I typically don't mind slow updates, but it feels like the updates here are far too slow for the issues there are. The game is also very anti-modding which can kind of guarantee your game is going to die sooner or later. I hope the team changes their attitude, but I've completely lost motivation to really keep playing this game and will likely see how it's doing a few years down the line

Nier:Automata is a beautiful game worthy of your attention, especially if you enjoy refreshing storytelling and genuinely fun gameplay. I have beat this game several times and 100% it on the PS4, and I'm working on 100% it on Steam now because I love it that much. This was a game that, at first, underwhelmed me, but after I took a break and let the events/themes of the game settle, everything clicked when I went back to play it. This is a game that will make you think a lot after playing it, and it may even take time for the themes to be clear to you. But the journey is worth it, and the more quests you complete, the fuller the world is and the more its story elements make sense.

Beyond story, this is a great game for achievement hunters even if some of the achievements frustrate you, because you can literally buy them in-game with in-game currency. I think you should go for all the achievements without buying them because they bring so much context to the game and let you see everything the game has to offer. Nier:Automata really is a treasure, and while I'm loving my second 100% playthrough, I wish I could relive my first playing experience.

The port is infamously not great, so go in with a beefy computer even if you could technically run it by its minimum requirements. The DLC is simple but adds a lot of nice customization and flavor to the world, so definitely get it if you find yourself enjoying the game. I do think you're missing out if you approach this game with a "cute girl fights good" attitude, but hey, if that's what you enjoy about it, that's great-- it's meant to be fun. I believe the game does a great job at telling a deep and powerful story without being pompous, so I hope you give it a chance.

Great game-- the music is great, the story is pretty well crafted, and the bullet hell is fun! Failing never feels unfair and is one of the few games that have made me eager to improve at the songs. The game is a bit pricy if you only want to play story mode, but challenge mode is practically endless and certain milestones encourage you to keep playing. Since they've been updating the game, Their last update added some more songs too, which tells me they may continue updating the game to be fresh. Definitely worth the price if you intend to play it in its entirety.

So far updates have been pretty frequent and the devs tend to be on the ball about fixing issues. Excited to see where this game goes next.
