On the one hand you may spend hours on looting and crafting just to lose it all, on the other hand you may be lucky and spend hours on looting and crafting and win big.
It's not everyone's cup of tea, I guess.
Even though you will run into a lot of people that will kill you for anything, you may also run into some decent people.
It's always an adventure but can consume a lot of time and is not always rewarding.
The base game has quite limited content but thankfully BI has provided the community with tools to create mods.
If you should ever be tired of official server you can simply join a smaller community and enjoy new content such as new items, building mods, weapons, new events and much more. That's a big plus. Community servers can also provide a better experience due to active admins enforcing certain rules and taking care of different issues and different kinds of malicious players.
Other than that it should be mentioned that the game runs quite well on old(er) systems, like 8-10 years old, which is another plus if you don't have the money to buy a new system to play the latest games.
The game's not perfect but can be enjoyed by most.
