extremely heartfelt recreation and update to a game with a lotta problems, and risk of rain returns addresses and solves all of them as i can see. Risk of rain 2013 has a lot of playability issues that stop it from being enjoyable today, I normally dont have problems with aged games but risk of rain was really archaic and confusing on how to properly play it, down to the ambiguous choice of how far in the screen should be zoomed in. Returns polishes the game to an extreme extent, even further then risk of rain 2. With really really wonderful sprite work that highlights the creature and character design and surprisingly iconic levels. Fleshing out the aesthetics and gameplay as well, with character kit options, more survivors, monsters and items. It really feels like it was made for and by people who have a lot of love for what makes risk of rain 2013 stick out so much. Enough to where 2's success owes itself to the foundation from this game. And the polish and ability to intuitively understand everything unlike the original shows rather proudly how enjoyable the world and gameplay are. Simple as it can be. Its just really solid and the presentation ties it together in a really special way. Even the original. Returns just heightens that and fixes the game feel to be up to standards today. Really really reccomend. Plus really wonderfully priced. I wrote this on 3 hours of sleep this is not a good paragraph oops

OH and tip, time to difficulty scaling is a lot harsher and more important then in ror2, you WILL die stage 4 if you arent at a good pace

Omori is the most beautiful piece of media ive ever experienced. A priceless, wonderful, meaningful story with amazing gameplay pacing and balance, an insanely detailed world, a wonderful massive soundtrack, and characters that will always stick with me. If its ever taken your interest at any point its well, well, well worth it.
