Game Review from 30 Minutes of Play
Reminding myself if I should revisit and if you should purchase.

ELEVATOR PITCH: Mario Party Battle Royale MMO with MXC Style Mini Games
LIKED: The gameplay, the gameplay, the GAMEPLAY. Using the right trigger to grab players or what I call the 'Troll Button'. The smiles, laughs, close calls in wins and losses brings me back to a time in my youth when gaming for me was not achievement driven, but simply for the pursuit of fun. I cannot recall in recent memory a game when losing was acceptable to me until Fall Guys. The joy I see with my significant other playing this game and her high five me when she finally won her first course is something, I cannot put a price tag on. People pay $100+ bucks to watch a comedy show when you can get the same experience safely at home in ‘COVID-19 World’ for a fraction of the price.
DISLIKED: I can start to feel my OCD kick in wanting to collect and unlock cosmetics due to season/time constraints. I can see the addictive casino mechanisms which beg for you to continue playing, but unlike playing other games which have similar slot machine addictive mechanics I am perfectly fine with losing in this game and the matches are short. The game is totally reliant on player base which gives me flashbacks in trying to keep Awesomenauts, Infinity Wars, Faeria, and (insert other low player base indie game) alive. In the future, can see this game going either way. Succeeding like Rocket League or becoming one of those games due to the price tag barrier to entry. If it only survives for a few months you not only get your money’s worth similar to a $60 game, but become part of something really rare and special.

Postmortem Review

LIKED THE MOST: Successfully trolling others when they initiated the trolling.
DISLIKED THE MOST: The trolling from players when I'm trying to play the game on the up-and-up.

===== If I Could Speak To Myself Prior To Playing =====
Non-spoilers: Don't get sucked into the game's addictive daily mechanics, there are more games to play.
TIPS WARNING SPOILERS!
Learn the double job tactic.

===== Gameplay Mood Tracker =====
Methodology borrowed from Partasan Spy's spygamereviews[www.spygamereviews.com]
  • 01-10 hours: Addicted (beat the game)
  • 10-20 hours: Addicted
  • 20-30 hours: Addicted (map changes)
  • 40-50 hours: Normal (new season)
  • 50-65 hours: Bored
  • 60-70 hours: Bored
  • 70-80 hours: Bored

WHEN ADDICTED: Honeymoon period of the game, mastering certain map/game strategies, winning first place, tolling others, avenge trolling, and seeing if I'll finally see a shark costume in the daily content. Once I see and purchase that costume, that is my indicator I have 100% completed this game because there is no way I can 100% these steam achievements.
WHEN NORMAL: Going through the motions of the game and getting mid to late in a run. Playing while having a podcast on.
WHEN BORED: Going through the motions of trying to 100% game, playing just to collect Kudos, or finish up the season with all unlocks. Playing just to play rather than enjoy.

===== Worth Revisiting? =====
Yes, just be mindful the learning curve one must overcome with the innuendos of the gameplay, maps, etc..

===== Wish It Had... =====
Non-troll mode, continued gameplay and maps which are skilled based, and curses to the damn physics of this game at times.

Disclaimer: I'm aware 30 minutes is not enough time to properly review any game. Historically, I'm a big completionist when it comes to gaming, but my backlog will just not die and adulting obligations continue to mount. I needed to find some sense of accomplishment with my backlog other than buying them at great discount. Dedicating at least 30 minutes of play per game will be my arbitrary sense of achievement. It may not justify my gaming spending habits, but I'll suffer less buyer's remorse. Who knows, in 30 minutes I might discover a great game I want to revisit and something you want to purchase. GGs!
