I enjoy the game so far for what it is, and while some people might not like the braindead aspect, I can appreciate it personally. It's cute, cozy and an all around decent game to play when you don't have much energy and just want to relax without thinking too hard. I am looking forward to seeing where this game goes from here, but for now it's basically exactly what I was hoping for in a cozy game.

So let me preface this by saying this game is definitely not for everyone. Not by a long shot. Nor is it a flawless game. It has plenty of quirks and issues you'd expect out of an early access title, and even the systems that don't really have bugs that I've noticed aren't perfect. Even from an artistic perspective the game does feel a bit soulless, and it doesn't mesh perfectly.

However, that does not stop me from personally enjoying it. I have loved creature collectors, and while I was never huge on open world survival, Ark was a lot of fun to me. So this game hits a lot of the right notes if you enjoy those sorts of games. The multiplayer aspect is also a huge draw. Being able to run around a world with my friends is really nice.

So the big takeaway is that yes, this game is good, and lots of people will enjoy it and if monster taming, open world survival, and multiplayer appeal to you, you should give this game a shot. But keep your expectations reasonable.

The character creation alone is enough to get my stamp of approval. I love character creation and while there could be more customization options, what we do get is amazing. Especially the eye colors. It's rare i find a game that lets me give my characters the blackened scleras I picture them having.
But gushing over character creation aside, the story itself is enjoyable for what I've played so far. It truly feels like I'm playing a tabletop campaign, from the feeling of getting that clutch critical hit, to the infuriating feeling of getting a critical fail a persuasion check despite being a bard with so many proficiencies and getting into a fight.
I will be happily doing multiple playthroughs to explore all the dialogue options and branching paths this game has to offer.

So, let me preface this by saying: while I recommend this game, do not pay full price for it. I did because i missed my chance to get it cheap and my interest was piqued. However, in it's current state it is not worth the price tag. And I really wish the devs would post some kind of update to let their customers know what the state of things are.

I haven't had too many major bugs, and no crashes. The only ones I've really had to deal with are occasionally I can't attack on the back of my giant dragon, and sometimes an item will be listed with the wrong name, and act as that item. Both are fixed by simply saving and reloading.

Now that we've discussed the not so good, let's talk about why I like this game. The chibi-esque style is charming, and while not everyone's cup of tea, combined with a lot of the gameplay reminds me of Fantasy Life. If you enjoy farming sims and creature collection games, I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy this one. Excluding the story, there is a lot to do, from gathering, crafting farming, and fishing, to leveling, catching and trying to evolve your Magnus and upgrading Vokka Town. And there are special Magnus that you can hunt down as well, kind of like shinies.

It's Animal Crossing but Disney. And I enjoy both of these things. The only major issues I have with the game are that it is prone to crashing now and then, but auto save means I usually don't lose much. The other issue is the lock ups in that happen mostly in menus that force me to restart the game. But given that it's early access, I can live with both of these things as the rest of the game is enjoyable.

I quite enjoy this game, and would recommend it to others. However there are several aspects of the game I find unnecessarily tedious.
The game itself is very slow paced, which technically is suitable for a medieval game, but this makes the game fairly long and getting things you need takes an eternity or so it seems.
Fishing is a nightmare. Or more acurately, hooking a fish. Once you've got the fish on the line it's not terrible, but the timing needed to actually catch a fish is ridiculous.
Lastly; the swamp, I loathe the swamp because getting through it without the bridge takes FOREVER and you don't know what bits to bring with you without a guide.

Aside from that the game overall is pretty fun and if you are interested in the genre, it's worth picking up. However I would suggest looking for it on sale rather than full price.

Visually, I adore this game. I love the blocky, chibi like style of the characters, and the general simplicity of it. I also really like the music, it's cheery and up-beat but relaxing, like any good farming sim.

I have a couple of gripes however; The camera controls are a bit too wobbly and I think could use some refinement.
I also noticed you can't skip the tutorial quests even when you start a new game, and to me that's a little annoying as someone who often re-starts my games to play through them again. I think if those two things were fixed up, this game would be near perfect. Same level of addicting as Stardew with all the fun of building your own things like Minecraft.

Since it's still EA, I can't be too hard on the game. If your system can run it, and you love farming and building; this game is great.

This game is wonderful. I tend to play games on and off; but the first two weeks after I got this game I was so enthralled that I barely stopped playing. I probably haven't put as many hours into this game as a lot of other people have but I enjoy playing it so much. Especially with the new 1.1 update, I really like the additional farmlands. My personal favorite thus far is probably the Forest farm. If you enjoy Harvest Moon, or other relaxing sort of casual games I highly recommend this. For a game that costs less than twenty dollars, there is so much to do and a lot of replayablilty thanks to all the farm types, and different romance options. It is well worth the cost.
