If this game looks interesting to you, don't just look at the general 'mixed' reviews on Steam.
Try it out yourself, like actually try it, with the effort of playing it as it is supposed to be played, and I can promise you, you'll like it. Of course you will die, maybe you'll die a lot, but you'll also learn what you did wrong and it will help you on your next run.

If this game gets you frustrated every time you die, then stop playing (or take a break), this might just not be for you.

I love this game, the environment. I love the gunplay and the looting.

Does it have bugs? Yes. Are these bugs gamebreaking? Not really, but I guess that's a personal opinion.
I have never played a game that doesn't have bugs and which doesn't annoy you from time to time.
But the devs are still updating and fixing this game with weekly patches.
If something breaks after a patch they fix it asap as well.

Can you play this game solo? Yes.
You just need to know when to hold your trigger.
Scan your surroundings and frequently listen to sounds. If you see someone, don't just shoot mindlessly.
You have to analyse first. Is that really only one player? Or is there more? If there is, try to not fight them while they are holding hands. If you're not comfortable fighting multiple people, just avoid them and move on. You can easily avoid people, even after you've been spotted. You just need to use the environment and your knife. Crouching and sitting still for a few second (preferably behind cover) regenerates your stamina super fast! You can just keep running after. Keep in mind that getting closer to 300 weight in your backpack makes you slower and slower (and louder too). Purple backpacks turn you into the loudest potato sack.
Just make sure that wherever you go, you have an escape route and you cant get pinched into a corner by a team. Of course this requires map knowledge, so go explore! Use smoke grenades to your advantage. Even gas grenades can give you time to get out of a sticky situation.

If you want to compare this game to other games everyone obviously thinks about Escape from Tarkov. Even though I have never played it myself, I know what that game is about and how it is played. And I can tell you that the Cycle is way more casual. Personally, I think the gunfights resemble Apex Legends the most. Even though you only have 100 health and no shields to heal, you still want to make sure you keep your health maxed at all times.

I'm not saying this game can't be punishing and you have to run around heavy breathing around the whole map. But if you know when to make noise and when not to, you'll have an easy time in this game.

I really hope the devs keep working on this game and they can find a solution to the constant influx of cheaters trying to ruin every multiplayer game.

Even though New World has had a lot of annoying bugs the last few weeks, I still love this game and I'm still having fun. The thing that impresses me the most is the environment in general. I love running around the map for hours. The gathering and crafting professions are just fun too. Even though some of them are not the easiest to skill up, at least it gives you some kind of challenge!

It's just hard to satisfy people these days ^^
