Helldivers 2 is a wild PVE co-op experience.

If you're new to the franchise, you're going to be exploring planets and shooting a ton of bugs and enemies in the name of freedom and democracy -- Starship Troopers style. You will die, a lot, but that's to be expected, as many of the tools/weapons at your disposal will help you kill, a lot.

If you enjoyed Helldivers 1, you'll be pleasantly surprised to see that a LOT of the mechanics from the original game are still present. Some tweaks have been made, of course, but the game has made a shockingly faithful transition to third person.

Actually learned about this game after seeing a gmod mod that did something similar. Despite the impression that it may give you, this isn't really so much of a horror game as a storytelling game.

The way in which you light up and find your way through your environment provides a really unique way of exploring and understanding the world you find yourself in, and gives you the chance to really make the most of it. While this may seem like a weird comparison, if you enjoyed Death Stranding I feel like you might enjoy this game a fair bit, too. Exploring the unknown, discovering what's in the world around you, and walking through the wilderness, even if that wilderness is a cave thousands of feet underground.

I'd definitely recommend picking this game up. It's not too long, it's only six bucks. Absolutely worth the experience.

Early Access Review
Despite being in early access, this game already has a lot of what makes Rimworld good. It's still in need of a good bit of content, but what it has now is solid enough to lose a few hours into. The 3D building mechanic takes a little bit of time to adjust to, but feels like a solid foundation to build off of.

My biggest current suggestion is to implement some QoL aspects for construction in 3D, especially the ability to replace walls or floors with a different type.

I can't think of another game that I've played in the past few years that's really pulled me in like Space Engineers. It feels like I've been bitten by the Minecraft bug all over again.

The engine is surprisingly solid, which is a pleasant surprise when many open-world physics-based games tend to have things flying everywhere. Interactions between components work as you'd expect them to and even go a step further to automate tasks that might otherwise become tedious. You can build a system and start connecting things together, and components will start getting pulled to other machines where they can be processed.
I think that the simplicity of networking components together really helps make the game. Instead of having to focus on how each piece of your network is tied together, you can generally hook up a conveyor to a given side and it'll Just Work, bringing your machines together with ease. With that handled, you can instead move your focus to building what you want to build.
The early progression of the game also felt very natural. Mining stone to build a craft to mine ore veins, and then using the materials gained from that to build a craft that can get to space. It's as simple as that, and lets you get right into the action fairly quickly.
