Sid Meier's Civilization V is an amazing game, and probably my favorite game of all time. I have played it on the Apple App store for MacOS and bought it here because the DLCS were on sale. I'm not here to tell you if you should buy it instead of Civilization IV, just about Civilization V. I bought the complete edition 77% off and it was worth it. If you can, buy at least the 2 expansion packs (Brave New World and Gods and Kings). You've read the description, you know what the game is, I won't give a description, just what I love and what I may dislike. I adore the graphics. They are nostalgic, fairly realistic, and hold up well even 13 years after its release, maybe except for the graphics when talking to other civ's leaders. The gameplay is fun, and just like most 4X games is highly addictive and there are many different ways you can play. There's a civ for everyone, each with their own benefits. Given its age it will run on most devices, I would still check and make sure it runs on yours before buying it though. I play on a 2020 base model MacBook Air with 8gb of ram and have never experienced anything performance wise. The AIs aren't the absolute best but they are 13 years old. They are still fun to play with, but I have considered using a mod for difficulty adjustments as the base settings for that just give the AI advantages and don't really improve their gamesense. However, warning if you intend to play the multiplayer version of Civilization V: It is a fairly dated online system and can crash and lag plently, and if anyone you intend to play with is going to be playing on a MacOS system, you flat out can't join multiplayer games, due to the MacOS version being slightly different than the Windows and maybe Linux version, I don't have personal experience with the Linux port. The developers confirmed they have no intention of fixing this version incompatibility. There are apparently ways to fix it by rolling back versions but I haven't found one that works yet. The singleplayer experience is basically flawless. Side note: I did some research and it looks like Civ V even works on the Steam Deck quite well and with pretty good support. I don't personally own one, but the YouTube videos I've seen show some pretty smooth gameplay. I hope I didn't spoil too much of the game.

Final note: never play this game before bed. You will fall prey to the "One more turn" mentality and look up at 8am trying to find out where your time went.
