This is a really great experience, its definitley not the most interactive, but you could see this as akin to a very high visual novel, or maybe animated novel. Whatever the genre, its very entertaining and well produced. the voice acting is great, the writing is slick, and the animations are pretty good. I would recommend this.

This game is simply not fun overall... and its not hard either. its just dumb, they make changes to make the game more annoying to play before they fix issues. you will either zoom through a run while the dumb ass NPCs eat dirt, or a dumb ass NPC will spawn on top of you and kill you instantly. seriously i wish a developer with more resources or skill had this game, because its a cool idea with cool art, music, and concept, but the game is janky, poorly balanced, and frankly boring. if you have money to wast, you might get some hour of fun if you don't take it seriously, but if you acutally like the idea, this failure of a game will make you mad that its not better.

PERFORMANCE: Dunno if the updates have helped, but at least for me on my pc (13900k and RTX4080), the game is running splendidly, around 80 fps at 4k, and then turn on Frame Gen, and i get 120fps or more at 4k max settings. I would recommend taking a minute to install the FFXVIfix mod to fix any strange hiccups with cut-scenes and to unlock some extra settings.

GAMEPLAY: Now performance aside, this is a REALLY good game the combat is a somewhat more streamlined version of Devil May Cry 5, it might be a bit sad that there is only one playable character, but with how the game goes its something you can get passed, the giant monster fights are EPIC BEYOND EPIC! seriously worth the price of admission, the story is great, the dialogue is really good, and graphics are beautiful. so really the only mild complaints is that other than some optional quests and fights, the game is rather linear so while the world is rich you might be left wanting for some more adventuring.

OVERALL: I think this game and FF7 Rebirth are a return to form for the FF franchise despite the game play differences, the dialog is good again, the story is fleshed out, the fights are epic, and the characters are likable (and unlikable if they are meant to be) this particular entry is fairly grim with themes of slavery and a land that's formed around exploiting others for convenience or religion. not to mention a pretty high death count relative the series for named characters. also pro tip while many of the side quests are rather mundane, a few of them are pretty good, and none of them take too long. so give em a go. 8.5/10

well i played 12 hours of what is likely supposed to me like a 5 hour demo. game is excellent so far. I haven't had any performance issues, though i can imagine one single room near the opening that is a large area filled with enemies you are supposed to just run past. my fps dropped to "only" 70+ fps at 4k max settings. and so far its ONLY that opening area you arent spending more than 30 seconds in. game runs fine. (FYI in the settings make sure you have the resolution set 100% using custom preset, other presets set the resolution to like 200% or whatever and that might lower your fps a bit.)

Current EA RATING -
Type: Small budget Indie rogue-lite Action Rpg
Gameplay: 7.0
Story: 8.5
Characters: 9
Overall: 8.5 so far

Ok, so first off this game is small scale spin off (prequel?) To an in production crowdfunded game named 'Pennyblood'. That game is a spiritual successor to Shadow Hearts 1-3 on the ps2 which was the sequel series to Koudelka on the PS1. Those games are all incredible (especially SH2 which probabky the best JRPG on the ps2 which is saying a lot imho).

THIS game is prefectly matches the tone and lore of the Shadow Hearts games, with intresting characters and lore sprinkled already, it checks all the boxes. Its setting is Dark Historical Fantasy set in 1920s afters WW2 but with Dark Magic, Elder Gods, and mystical creatures.

The cast of this game are apparently a group of Secondary Antagonists From the Planned Main 'Penny Blood' game. You Have Group of Freedom Fighters/Terrorists Featuring A Mad Scientists who imbues his fellows with superhuman dark magic fueld by the Malice born of the pain and suffering of humans. These Fellows include what appears to be basically A broody terroristic version of captain america, The actual historical serial killer The Axe Man-turned Mystery novel writer, A sadistic ubdead/resurected Noblewoman who is carrying a 'child' that she single mindedly wants to feed the dark magic Malice and birth some kind of Dark God, and some guy who everyone yells at.

Gameplay wise its like a very basic version of Hades, you dight a room of various enemies, selects a tile on a gird to move to next, pick up powerups and skills, and unlock new stats and items with collected curencies after death. You try to reach and beat bosses as you get better/stronger.

The Real Draw however is the characters/lore/writing. I'm already pulled into the worldbuilding and plot and have only stopped to go to bed, and am instead writing this review at 3am.

If you like JRPGs for their plots characters you might give this game a try! Also a purchase of this i assume contributes to the devlopment of Penny Blood JRPG proper. So far i dont regret my purchase as the gameplayvis kind of scratching my simple game fix like Vampire survivers with the added bonus of a really interesting world and plot.

Game is boring, it was never good, and and has only gotten worse, it has always seemed like an old tech demo that was adapted into a mobile game that didn't run on the hardware for a few years. the plot is stupid, the cut-scenes are bad and buggy, the graphics are buggy. the combat isnt good enough to overcome its lack of substance, im honestly baffled that mmo/mobile gamer mindset can over come how lame this game is.

A vampire survivors-like with a classic diablo feel and art style Good balance and a bit challenging. I'd pay twice this price for the game.
