The once great TotalBiscuit once stated that for a game to be a game, it needs to have a failure state; dying or losing progress in some way. Spirit City: Lofi Sessions has none of that and would therefore not be a game in TB's eyes.
This program is more akin to a cozy study companion. Personally, I use it while working on writing for D&D or when reading a book; both of which this program has helped me keep focused and enjoy my time while doing it. I was in a bit of a reading slump for years, usually being tied up with work.

Spirit City: Lofi Sessions have helped me in a great number of ways; not the least when I got a son, as the music helps him sleep.

Now for the tiny bit of critique that I have; it’s very hard to create and avatar in your game that looks like me, when I’m a gruff looking 30’ties man with long beard and hair. The hair options for long hair are all very feminine, and the longest beard is a neckbeard. Also, there are no piercing or tattoo options.
But these are minor things, I love the finding different spirit pets and the Todo-list/habit-tracker/timer/Journal are fantastic.

As a game, King of the Castle has a great premise. You can both play with your friends in the sofa, or even, as I've done a couple of times, playing it on a discord server with a bunch of people. I've been a part of a few streams where a lot of people played all at once, and where we did Voice Over.

It is really fun to discuss what happens doing the story, and trying to f**k over the regent while still trying to do something cohesive with your teammates. It is a very give and take situation almost always, so you must think a bit about the choices you take.

There’s no danger of running out of story while playing it through, with 5 different factions there’s almost always a new way they interact with each other and the regent, which makes every game you participate in a new experience.
The game has a very cool aesthetic, which reminds me of the design of playing cards. The music is lovely and fit the theme.

As such, this is a game that you can’t play alone, but it should be possible to find a stream or a discord that plays from time to time.

It’s well worth the very small amount of money that the developers are charging.
