asymmetric is so good at writing jokes (also writing in general) that if i don't get them right away, they'll push themselves to the front of my stream of consciousness years later like HEY!!!! DO YOU GET IT NOW!!?!? lots of fond memories sitting in the middle school computer lab with my friends playing kingdom of loathing, not getting most of the jokes but having a blast. west of loathing offers the same stupid fun even without the nostalgia factor and with a smidge more comprehension on my end.

v funny, v charming, v ridiculous, v cowboy hat, v memorable rpg.

this game...it blows my mind. i nearly 100%'d the trilogy within a two week time period, spending an average of 40-50 hours per game. i skipped some side missions because i was OBSESSED with the story, so one could easily get more game time than that out of them. i did go back and 100% this one and clocked in around 60-ish. this one is my favorite :) (but ME3 is a better game). ME is a lot like other bioware RPGs, notably KOTOR and dragon age. anyway, it gives this surreal illusion of the vastness of space but you never even leave the galaxy, you ride in YOUR SPACESHIP to other star clusters via mass relays, which basically zoop you off at FTL speeds. cool thing: your character/decisions you make in this game carry over to the second one (and then both to the third). so there's some replay value in story changes due to who you keep in your squad, who you kill/let live, results/decisions from missions, etc. 10/10, will play again (and again).

it's obv that the railworks devs truly care about our playing experience by always rewarding us loyal fans with new, affordable dlc every time we log into steam (you won't get that kind of treatment anywhere else, folks). this game offers hours of playtime (and not only because you have to wait like 15 mins before you can leave the station) that will leave your friends with only one option: to kill you so they will inherit your steam account so they don't have to spend a year's salary to buy this game because they somehow managed to not acquire this during the winter sale of '11.
