The whole game is soulless and empty, and seems to take itself way too seriously. The single player is purposely designed to make the player not want to invest much time or effort into it, other than to go through the weak story maybe once. Zero replayability.

The loading times: absolutely absurd even with top-of-the-line hardware. The online portion is basically a loading screen simulator if doing the minigames. There is like 2-3 different loading screens before even starting a minigame, then another 2-3 different loading screens post-game. And it really shows when even just one of the other players is on slow hardware. Not to mention having to load back into the world when done, which is easily over a minute each time by itself on good hardware. Then there are the loading times going in and out an owned structure, which I don't see how even garbage hardware could take more than 10 seconds to load such small interiors, but it somehow manages to take longer on good hardware.

The online portion has some nice systems in place that could enable interesting inter-player conflict, however, for new players, it just turns them into loot piñatas. Players with access to better weapons and vehicles can just annihilate them without much thought. But then so can the high number of hackers the game has. So basically the potential of those systems is wasted, since only new players seem to be the ones bothering to try them out. The silly thing is that those systems cost quite a lot of in-game money to a new player to even start doing them, so essentially a player pays to become a loot piñata.

The core of the online mode just seems to be minigames that are merely okay at best, but the most egregious ones can be distilled into: players hiding behind cover waiting for NPCs to do something for tens of minutes. Not engaging.

The online portion just doesn't respect a person's time. Everything is expertly designed to be a constant inconvenience in an effort to to try to separate real-world money from a person's wallet, going so far as to make GTA5 feel like a non-game.

Don't waste time with GTA5. There are just way better GTA-like games out there, like Saints Row 3.

Not recommended based purely on technical reasons. The main character doesn't seem to be able to reliably duck under obstacles it should be able to. More than once, I've fallen into and been trapped inside small rooms where the only exit is to duck under something, but that never immediately works. Only through persistence and sheer luck does it eventually work.

There is one room in particular in one of the early surface levels where you drop down an elevator shaft, onto an elevator carriage, and then drop into a small room. The only exit out of this room is to duck under the elevator carriage, and drop further down the elevator shaft. Getting out of that room is a trial of tedium, since the character seems like it's just slightly too big to fit under the gap that it can take a long time for you to eventually clip under it.

And then, just outside the room described above, is some pickups under another obstacle, that I have been able to duck under only once. Persistence and luck doesn't pay off for getting under that one.

I also got trapped somewhere a few levels later where the only way to progress was to duck under an obstacle. That was especially frustrating since I had things trying to kill me while the character just simply didn't want to fit through the gap. That is about where I quit playing.

Absolutely requires other people to play, as there is no AI-controlled allies. No redeeming qualities even with other people.

The game could not even properly record how much time of mine it wasted.

Basically, Left 4 Dead with police in place of zombies, but somehow with even less story and build up. Also, a ton of waiting for timers to expire all over the place for the sake of waiting for timers to expire.

Was one of the best war-themed hat simulators at one time. Too bad the absolute massive amount of automated bots have been running the place for far too long now.
