The last truly great FlatOut game still holds up 15 years later.

I wanted to play a racing game. I fired this up. It plays OK. Nothing groundbreaking. Sticks to the old FlatOut formula. An improvement after 3. Next session and the game is not detecting my controller. I go into the steam overlay and check the controller setting, and suddenly it recognises my controller. Then I couldn't get it to sync at all during my third session. So, I'm done. Would I have continued to play this without the controller issue? Hard to say. But I am moving onto something else that isn't buggy.

Not good but playable. PS2 graphics, PS1 dialogue. Game play is somewhere between Diablo 2 and a PS2 God of War game, but not nearly as dynamic as either game. I probably would not have bothered with finishing it if it was any longer than 5 hours. If its on sale for a buck or two and you're itching for some mindless hack and slash—go for it. Just set your expectations to "meh."

The game itself is fine but it isn't optimized for the PC. The FOV is too close for a desk top monitor and there is no way to adjust it. It is fine if you are sitting back on a couch looking at a TV. The combat is stiff and I find myself cursing the camera way too often.

Still the best in the series, IMHO. Highly recommend playing with friends. Also, writing this review will help me get a Steam badge.
