Early Access Review
I noticed a few of my friends who don't game as much as me playing this nonstop. I loved Drug Dealer Simulator (DDS), so I was eager to check this out, play time is a bigger recommendation than any review or advertising.

This game is truly addictive and I just can't tear myself away from it.

What is so engaging about it, moreso than DDS? The fact that the laborious parts of DDS have been simplified, there is a lot less waiting to get things done although I'm at the part where manufacturing certain things takes 7 minutes in real life.. yeah, I am constantly engaged because the gameplay cycle keeps demanding I do tasks, engage with others, and making money is not a heavy obstacle in this game.

I make, I mix, I deliver, I delegate, I grow. I really recommend this even for a casual player, and no you don't need to be a weed head to enjoy this simple and fun game. All you need to do to have fun is get started!

2025: My initial impressions
Wow, I never thought I'd say NO to recommending a Civ game. As many other players, I've been playing since Civ 1 and have so many fond memories of the game. I think I've played nearly all of them and have a collective play time throughout my life of nearly 10,000 if I had to guess. I'm actually gonna uninstall this now that I'm thinking about it.

The UI is so bland and uninspired and I have to say it is perhaps the most unfriendly out of all of them. For example, it took me a while to figure out how to queue units, and once I did learn, I thought maybe I could just drag and drop how I wanted items in the queue to be built but no, I have to click an up every single time. See, stuff like that is merely QoL, quality of life, and Firaxis should already have things like that on lockdown... but they don't.

The lack of worker units is something I actually missed, I think the automated workers were perhaps my favorite, or even the "use several times and they're gone" method as well. Instead this was replaced by the cities growing and while its ok, its only ok. What started to get on my nerves was that I was still spending more time trying to find out WHICH hex grid I could update because it wasn't always visually easy to recognize.. all them looked nearly the same. I also started getting tired of telling each city WHERE I wanted my buildings to be built and just kind of quit caring.

Leaders are not tied to their civilizations, and its just a bunch of hokey random civilizations that will change in and out but I just don't get attached to anyone of them. I really don't find the system to add anything and it is just sort of there to be there.

The explorer units have no auto-explore function, you have to manually move them around and it becomes such a chore. Supposedly this was done as a programming reason and will be added later but its such a necessary feature for the unit.

The combat felt fine, the feature of having commander units really started to grow on me and I loved their addition because moving a large amount of troops everywhere can get tedious and boring and the commander units being able to act as a transport unit for them made deploying them a breeze, and the commander can gain experience and become very useful. I really liked that feature! I also really liked the idea of leaders getting perks to customize the gameplay style.

I find the graphics and audio to be very good and one of the high points, but thats not really why we're here is it? All the same, I know that they'll keep polishing the game, refining it, and adding those missing QoL features.

I just beat my first game of Civ 7 and I have to say that I just lost the game despite the fact that I was miles ahead in tech, culture, military, and I had destroyed a civilization and pretty much dominated the entire land area of the biggest continent.. AND I LOST AND I DO NOT KNOW WHY! Well, I know why, the Modern Age ended somewhat randomly in the year 1899, and there was no information age so the game ended. But I lost. It just said, "DEFEATED" and there was no replay video, no fascinating charts to look at that make the whole dang playthrough so enjoyable, and, wait for it, NO MORE "ONE MORE TURN".

I'm uninstalling this until it gets better. Hold off for now. I'm gonna go back to Civ 4 Colonization, or heck, maybe I'll go back to Civ 5 which was quite nice.

I saw a youtube video reviewing this game and the thumbnail was perfect because it had one single word I kept uttering to myself as I experienced this game for the first time. WHY????

In some ways, these games are antiquated and flawed, and in other ways they're delightfully beautiful and forego any sort of tournament level fairness to just say, "what the thell, we're having fun?" and I love it. I haven't played these games in about 30 years and they actually look better than I remember. The frames of animation, the art, its all truly peak model of its time and dare I say rivals the sprite work of Street Fighter 3, although if you wish to nitpick SF3 is better but these game, despite being on an older engine, is definitely comparable.

I bought this for a trip down memory lane and I got it. What I found was a save system, ability to edit the arcade game difficulty and other settings, and all the features that were missing in the last capcom collection I saw.

I wish I could go back to being a young boy at the bowling alley, marveling over this game all over again and since the past doesn't exist anymore by known science, this game is the next best thing. I can smell the excitement I felt as a young boy and experience things in true authentic fashion. I hate this gay future.

I have completed the game and am ready to write my review. As a precursor, I loved the first game and beat it multiple times and eagerly awaited the sequel. I will be vague on story elements and attempt to do this as spoiler free as possible.

DOES IT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE
Absolutely, and then some. Jesus Christ be praised
The story picks up a few months after the first game ends and you are treated to an absolutely incredible introduction to the game that seems to bring back the vibe that you enjoyed from the first game, but in a more compelling way as the characters and world feel more confident and lived in. I had a lot of high expectations for this game and none of them felt unfulfilled. The best part of Kingdom Come 1 was Henry and his character, he's back and better than ever.
Henrys come to see us! God save ya Henry!

Story Elements
As I mentioned the game picks up where the first game left off, and you have an entirely new map to go through. The game does not take long to entertain you and get you gripped by what will come next. I don't consider the game fully started until the open world is accessible and this will certainly take a few hours, but that point I had said, "whoa" quite a lot and had a lot of moments where I genuinely laughed out loud.

The game leans more into actual history and politics of the time and I feel this is appropriate for Henry because he's no longer the lovable but useless idiot from the first game. He is aware of royal affairs and how noble society functions. We have seen him go from an orphaned refugee to a confident warrior and he no longer behaves like an idiot. In the first Kingdom Come it was a little curious how useless Henry was in a forge considering that was his upbringing. Well, this becomes a real story element and gameplay element and felt like it was all finally coming together. The first Kingdom Come had some loose ends or some unsatisfying endings that finally get answered in this new installment.

The dialog towards the end of the game started to get very long winded and I started skipping some conversations because things were getting dragged out a bit, but this is not a common issue. Final story elements really were satisfying and I can only say that much to preserve the experience for you.

Hows It Play?
There are less skills than there were in the first game, and some skills were married together. For example hunting is completely gone which was a skill I did enjoy but it truly was quite useless and there's no incentive to hunt in this game so, why bother? Lockpicking and pickpocketing are now the same skill and in the first game I found myself struggling to get experience for them but in this new game I almost passively maxed it out. I would have liked to have had more skills or some new skills, but I was fine with what i had.

Combat feels mostly the same but some small refinements. You'll have a new map to explore, and when you're done with that you'll have a second new map to go through that is just as big as the first one so its nearly twice the game as the first.

I really enjoyed the new characters we met, and as mentioned before these characters are were real people in history and important to the events that did transpire. You are also able to pray and I really loved this addition because I would pray along with it for fun, and for my eternal soul. Blacksmithing is a fun minigame and really quite profitable. In the beginning of the game I found myself in severe need of groschen so I turned to blacksmithing and happily banged away to get myself back on my feet. VERY satisfying.

Graphics
The graphics, while beautiful, really just feel almost like a 1.3 version of the first game. First game had great graphics, this one has almost the same graphics, perhaps just better textures. It feels like the first game engine with little tweaks to the graphics. I found that after a minor scuffle my character would constantly be soaked in blood as if I had just butchered an entire town, and that was a bit funny to me. Game ran smoothly and I think I only experienced one crash the entire time while using the early versions of this game. The graphics run smooth and the game is stable.

Audio
The audio was perfect background noise, but sometimes the music would REALLY stand out when someone was up to something funny, perfectly setting a mood. I found when the music was getting playful that it genuinely made me smile and understand, "uh oh, this bloke is up to sumfin'!"

Summary
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and it was everything I wanted, I'm not yanking yer pizzle when I say this game is well worth the full price. I'm eagerly awaiting DLC's and expansions because there's so much more that needs to be done. You must see Henrys story through, he's a good lad and you deserve some joy in your life and it is all here.

I enjoy the game, bought ultimate edition, and I feel happy with my purchase. It was what I wanted, although WAY too much story telling and not enough action.

Ok, I summarized my feelings on this game. I recommend the game as the maps are incredible and definitely feels like an evolution in the gameplay experience but there is too much story telling and cutscenes. Myself and several friends just kept hitting "skip cutscene" and plowing through dialogue because for every minute of gameplay you get about 2 minutes of cutscenes.

SKIP ALL THE CUTSCENES MY GOD. If you do that the game is a strong 9/10 and completely replayable but it gets into metal gear levels of cutscenes. I would've preferred it if it had summarized things in a few sentences.

Definitely had fun, worth full purchase, skip every cutscene and you'll still know everyones backstory.

It's truly amazing how well this game has held up. I missed gameplay like this, you get in there, fight some good battles, minimal story without 20 minute cutscenes, and the graphics still hold up. Level design was great, this was a great addition.

Since there is already a lot of reviews, I'll give you an understanding of my perspective. I only ever played the Original Silent Hill, I never played the Original Silent Hill 2, so this remake was my first foyer back into Silent Hill. I love the old and new Resident Evil games, and am familiar with the love people have for pyramid head. Ok, so, is this Remake worth the time, effort, hype, and $70?

Not really. I don't understand the hype. I had fun, and towards the end of the game it definitely got spooky and VERY gripping, but that was at the very end of the game. The gameplay loop was getting VERY tired towards the end, but luckily for the last section they changed it a bit. My expectations for the game were to be that I would explore the city more and not just constantly be stuck indoors in pitch black corridors for hours at a time. It just seemed like I mostly got to see the city when I was going from Point A to Point B, and then I would once again be fighting monsters in dark corridors where the color brown is just everywhere.

Combat: I didn't enjoy the combat too much. There were few enemy types and your character, James, has a GREAT evasion move where he is invulnerable. I came at the combat like a resident evil veteran where I stuck with melee to save ammo and the combos never changed. Attack, attack, attack, dodge, attack attack, monster dead. This did not change for the entire game. I started using more ammo or running past monsters just to skip it. The boss fights were pretty short and on normal mode I never died once on my first playthrough.

Puzzles and exploration: My favorite parts of the game included trying to figure out the puzzles and reading the notes. I enjoyed this section and thats when the playful nature of the monsters would make me laugh sometimes in a good way. This is when I thought the game was at its best.

Graphics: The graphics are fantastic and look very good. Infamously, the first silent hill had a lot of fog and darkness to hide the fact that the PS1 had severe limitations on draw distance. Now it is a design choice that is iconic for the series and while it can work, it does get quite old because I am constantly in fog or darkness and can't see more than 10 feet in front of me. When you reach the other world or delve deeper into madness is when everything just turns brown, rotted, and icky looking. I know thats the point, but it was just so much brown that it started to get uninspired feeling. I lost a lot of excitement about the other areas because they all started to look the same.

Story: Silent Hill is meant to be nonsensical, eldritchian, and everything is not going to be explained. Thats fine, I went in expecting that and got it. I found the story to be alright, maybe a bit underwhelming but the notes and letters were great world building. There are multiple endings, I looked them up and they're about what I expected.Par for the course for Silent Hill. Lets just say your own curiousity will be the main driving force on why you keep moving forward instead of a gripping tale where you need to find out what happened.

New game plus mode: There is a new game plus mode but I don't think I'm going to come back to this game. You do not keep any extra ammo or health items but you do get a new weapon that makes combat much easier, and new items around the town to unlock the different endings. To me this just screams "speed run" on new games and it just isn't enough for me to want to go through all that again.

Overall I'd give this a 7/10 if you want a one time run through. As always, get it on sale because I don't think it was worth $70, but it IS a good game so I do recommend it.

Psychonauts. My only familiarity with this game was that the original had amazing, over the top reviews from everyone who played it back in the day and that it sold quite poorly despite everyone recommending it. I personally never played it, it looks like a kids game. I saw they made a much anticipated sequel and while I still had no interest in it because it still looked like a kids game and once again it kept reaching incredible reviews. I wishlisted it, and then thought I would FINALLY give it a try. Ok game, wow me.

I am wow'ed. It is unfortunate I can only experience this for the first time once. Normally I play very adult games with realistic graphics and adult tones, so this was me far out of my element. It was a nice vacation from the over the top serious stuff I am used to. The story is quite silly, run of the mill sort of Pixar stuff but it does keep progressing more and even though the story can make up rules as it goes, it does so in a compelling way that had me engaged.

The gameplay is a platformer style and while there is some combat and boss fights, the majority of the time is you exploring the wonderful and creative world of the Psychonauts. The world design is truly something next level, something I haven't seen so creatively done since American McGee's Alice. You will explore peoples minds and see how their psyche has affected their own internal worlds which you explore. Creativity and humor is a real thing around here. I found myself chuckling constantly at the humor the game threw at me, and some of the worlds that I was viewing. Everything is incredibly stylized and appropriate I believe these fantastic settings.

Controls are great, they are where they need to be. The graphics themselves are quite smooth and at times indiscernable from actual Pixar movies. This is the second time I've referenced Pixar and I do enjoy them quite a bit, so these are glowing comparisons.

I would recommend this game for kids of all ages from 7-99. It is quite a long single player game, I took my time to explore and find collectible items, but not too intensely and spent around 35 hours on the game. I'd imagine if you just made a beeline for everything and watched all the cutscenes then perhaps you could beat it in 18 hours so thats still pretty lengthy.

All the positive reviews are not for nothing, this game is definitely worth playing if you want something light hearted, fun, and engaging.

I'm giving this a negative review until the stuttering is fixed. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience in this game but the stuttering is too much at the end of the game. I'm at the last boss battle, the big climatic finish and my beefy computer is giving me 3 frames a second even with the lowest settings possible. The stuttering was a problem throughout my entire experience and I'm just too frustrated with it to spend the next two hours struggling to get past a boss fight I've seen people beat within 4 minutes. I'm not doing it.

Please fix the stuttering.

This is Papers Please on steroids. If you liked Papers Please, you'll enjoy this most likely. There's a lot more to do, to monitor, and it isn't quite so cruel.
