I recently came back to this game (all of my hours are in early access from many years ago) and the game is significantly worse than even early access was. To sum it all up, you spend hours and hours hitting barrels just to be instantly killed by hackers. That is literally all Rust is. A barrel hitting simulator with horrible gunplay.. If you didn't know already, you lose everything when you die.

The XP system was the greatest thing they ever did.. and they deleted that from the game. During Early Access it made sense that once in a great while they would have to wipe progress to continue updates and such.. but that has gotten worse too. They wipe progress so frequently everytime you log in there's a good chance your progress has been completely reset. It makes no sense to me why anybody would play this when they wipe progress every week/month and sometimes even more frequent than that.

I would never recommend this game to anybody. The fact that it's even in the top 10 on the Steam charts shows me that humanity is full of absolute morons.
