you already know this game, yes, it's very good

I want to support this studio, they have exceptional consumer practices and are the last non-indie studio I trust, on top of just releasing BANGERS (TWOM, Frostpunk).

Not my type of game. Its not bad, I just don't really like it, which is a shame. Story is top notch and concept is incredible.

Cute, fun, labor of love type of game. Devs spent 13 years on it and it shows.

It AGONIZES me to post this.

I loved the original game. I played it over and over again non-stop. Probably to a point of obsession.

I waited for this game for so long. The delay felt grueling, and I was counting down the days. When it finally came out, I dropped everything and put in a 10 hour session. It was incredible.

Lag spikes occurred throughout, but it was a new release and wasn't too bad. It was fine.

I wanted to do it again, so I did a utopia run. Very good, but it didn't keep me up playing at night.

After basically beating that run, I did another one. An extremist run. I remembered in the first game, it felt so painful to dip your toes into extremism. The game did an INCREDIBLE job making you feel bad for it. In this game, I just beat the game 2.5x faster. Due to the scale of this game, you can't really see how it affects your city. Only how it affects your quotas, which it did positively.

I didn't want to play anymore, so I decided to wait for the next major content update. It's here, and it's extensive. I was counting down the days for a month, but now I sit here 2 days after the fact having only played it for 2 hours. I want to open it, but I don't have the motivation or excitement to play.

The GAME is incredible. The MUSIC is incredible. The CUSTOMIZATION is quite good. It's just a real shame it has to live up to the original's shadow. Legitimately a masterpiece of morals and ethics, I wrote a report on Frostpunk 1 in school and got an A-. The scale, however, makes it impossible to feel your impacts like you did in the last game.

I'm hoping the next DLC will change this, but I know deep down in my heart it's just going to be a repeat of what I'm feeling now. Writing a review on it, instead of playing the game I grueled waiting over for 2 years.

It's worth it.

Literally a masterpiece of a story.
Gameplay is simple, but that's not why you play.
You play for the story, the tragedy, the sorrow
I hate cliches, but it's accurate. You WILL live to see yourself become a monster or die trying
What I mean by that, is that the game balances reward with risk brilliantly. Sure, you CAN live without stealing from the elderly or sick. Good luck in the military outpost, though!
Or, you can just steal.. one stack of food from that elderly couple. They've been holding on, I'm sure they can spare it! Except, 10 days later, you come back desperately to see that their house is empty. You have no idea what you did to them, but you did something.

Very fun. When it says early access it does mean that, though. Devs are (seemingly?) actively working on it, however.
