15 hours in and I am uninstalling this game. I might come back to it, who knows. After three attempts at really long lists of complaints, let me keep it short.

If you like autistic levels of detail and micromanaging an entire country, look no further. This is your game.
If you're just looking for something fun that you can play with and experiment with... run.

A ton of work has gone into making this game. Don't get me wrong, it's well made. But it is not a casual, fun, experience. HoI IV is a career, and it's not what I am looking for.

The game is really just clicking. It runs well and looks good, but there's nothing to it.

Two complaints up front. Darkness is a problem, and unfortunately none of the fixes are completely adequate; I found myself sitting by a save point just waiting to go to sleep so I could have some light to work with. Second issue is that I spent a whole lot of times my first playthrough cutting down trees and gathering materials, and when I started the game over, doing all of that work again felt like a slog.

Other than those, I think this is a fantastic game. Enemies are pretty interesting (although, there isn't a huge variety of them), once you get used to how combat works it gets fun. The crafting is cool. Some of the more obscure items will require some research to locate (you'll never find them all on your own). All in all, it's a lot of fun, and it has emotional content. Great graphics and sound.

I highly recommend.

Hi [FRIEND_NAME_HERE], you have to check out this game. It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years.

The thing that makes this game good is the mood. The creators have done a good job of pacing the game and adding in lots of visual an auditory effects that really create an atmosphere. Impressive level design. Some minor clipping issues.

The game is essentially three parts: cutscenes (done very well), puzzles (which are fairly simple) and fighting (which is really button mashy).

As I said the cutscenes reveal the story one piece at a time. The animations are impressively emotive, married with live action footage they really bring the twisted story to life powerfully. It does get a little formulaic (the camera pans around in a circle as someone waxes poetic about the darkness more than a few times).

The puzzles are interesting, but unlike Portal or some other puzzle game where your options are wide open, these puzzles are a little more obvious. Found a ledge that just sticks out for no reason? That's where you need to stand to solve the puzzle. There are no weird dead ends or vantage points that serve no purpose. It was like they came up with the puzzle and only designed the paths needed to solve it. Not the biggest sin a game can make, but it definitely feels contrived. Luckily, the puzzles aren't always the same thing, and that keeps them feeling fresh.

The fighting looks cool, and does require some legitimate skill, but it's nothing intense. The enemies are easy to predict, and don't often pose too much of a challenge unless you get caught on the scenery and get hacked to death. Life and death in battle does feel intense, through the music and the seeming power of your opponents. But generally, the fighting is forgettable.

So, mood. Mood is what will redeem this game. Put on some headphones and just go with it. I think ou'll find the game to be colorful and foreboding and to really put you in a dark frame of mind.

Ultimately I say pass on this one. Not because it's poorly made, but just because the actual game is extremely limited and really just amounts to button mashing and snap decisions. The art is good, the game functions well and everything they tried to achieve is done well. My complaint is with the substance of the game itself, and the amount of freedom you have. I don't think you will replay this game more than a handful of times; but maybe the price is worth it to you to play some mindless, risque' little game. I predict that you'll be in the same boat as me; entertained, but wishing I had my money back. I would say this game is middle of the road if I had the option, but if it comes to a thumbs up or down situation, I have to say thumbs down. Sorry, HunnieCam Studio, I know you tried.

Life is short if you're not on a horse: the game.

Holy cow is this game addictive! The very first thing I noticed was that the graphics are a bit dated; there are sprites and menus that could use some work, and some of the animations have some glitches here and there. It just doesn't have the polish and motion capture sparkle of modern games and I thought that would translate into me hating it. But, the actual game play is addictive and exhilerating.

Start off with the fact that this game is a sandbox. You are not the chosen one, the world does not revolve around your actions, your story is exactly what you make it and nothing more. This means you travel where you want, do what you want and you weather the consequences. I got the feeling that I was a very small cog in a very big machine and for once I felt like a game gave me a sense of perspective.

The strategic map offers it's own set of challenges as forces of varying strength roam the world looking for fights. You have to pick your battles, and keep your eyes open for opportunities. Then when you get on the battlefield, it is all hard charging and bloodshed and life just being awful for footsoldiers. Honestly, I've gotten to the point where the biggest threat to me is a cramp in my axe arm, and I feel a little bad for those poor schmucks on the other side of the map. The action could use some tinkering, but I've been having so much fun playing it, I can't say that it is really broken.

I bought this game on sale and got my money's worth. It's worth more than that. I've had a lot of fun!

I resisted Skyrim for a long time; the other Elder Scrolls games were just so open ended and seemingly endlesss that I had abandoned chasing a resolution. In Oblivion, there were hundreds of Oblivion gates and caves and dungeons, each that would take a long time to complete. The fetching missions and the scavenger hunt missions and the monsters just seemed like it was too much to ever complete, so I didn't even try.

But with Skyrim I didn't try to do everything, I just focused on making a character that I could make up my own narrative to. I wasn't invested in winning the storyline or completeing all of the quests, and that made all of the difference. Well, that and mods, which I recommend looking into to add some spice to the game.

Skyrim is beautiful, and while it's not a perfect RPG, it does a lot of things right. This is a great game and well worth the money.

Max Payne 3 is a powerful experience. The mood, the dialogue and the plot all add up to a wonderfully told story. The action seems a bit more geared for console play, but I had a great time exploring the boards. I felt a connection with Max Payne and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

This is a great game!

I spent a lot of time playing WoW and I paid a lot of money to have a toon run around in their substandard world. I won't say that Rift breaks the mold completely; it is still a toon based grindfest. But, it is completely free to play and it offers a few things that WoW never did. Rift has a lot of angles that appeal to the different tastes of different players. If you want to craft, you can, if you want to quest, you can, dungeons, PvP, instant quests, artifacts... there is a lot to this game.

The tl;dr takeaway is that it is free and you'll find it is a pretty good investment of your time.
