With the announcement halting the policy changes locking hundreds of countries out of being able to continue playing the game I'm comfortable enough changing this review to positive. Everyone's feedback made this change happen and I'm glad to see a good result.

A very charming RPG that had a lot of love put into it with a wonderfully weird and surprising story the entire way through. Well worth the asking price, if the demo interests you there's so much more in the full game to keep you delighted, full of little secrets and funny tidbits.

Special shout out to the soundtrack, it starts off and keeps being consistently great through the whole experience.

Some would find shortcomings in the battle design being mostly focused around the warioware-esque mini-games, thankfully if that ends up being a bother there's accessibility options to get past those for however long you want.

For people looking for more of a challenge there's a pretty brutal challenge mode available.

Really great experience overall, I was so happy to find this a few days before release.

Base game cranked up to 11, with a very satisfying conclusion. If you've made it to the end of CrossCode this has to be experienced.

There's a lot to say, but to keep it short: One of the greatest indie games of all time, with a gripping story, excellent combat, and some really tricky puzzles with way more content than any price tag that has been slapped on the game hints at.

An absolute must-play.

Very fun, unique experience with an engaging story. Thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Weird West and will undoubtedly going back for another play-through or two.

You get a lot of flexibility with how to handle situations, a neat assortment of weapons, some fun perks (invest in jump height) and a lot of neat things and people to find.

Been looking forward to this since the initial reveal trailer and can say that if you were intrigued by that or any of the media for this game you won't be disappointed.

Update 10/16/2021: The first giant patch released addressing all of my problems, with limited time I can't validate everything but if the issues are truly fixed I'll gladly recommend this.

Outstanding game in and of itself, only reason I couldn't recommend this game is due to the myriad of technical issues that continue to frustrate both on the regular and public beta builds of the game.

The most egregious is the bug where even looking at (clicking into) the menu option to reset Colt's save data will reset it regardless of if you choose yes or no, lost a good 10 hours to that.

Apart from that at the time of writing there are issues with the game freezing in menus, at key story / cutscene points, and crashes to desktop after extended sessions in a single area. All of those lose a disturbing amount of playtime because there isn't a checkpoint system or any way of saving progression except for exiting an area... Right now expect to lose progress, sometimes upwards of 1-2 hours of exploration flushed down the drain if you do decide to try and cope with the issues as they stand.

The second Bethesda / Arkane / Microsoft address the technical shortcomings of the game and people can get the experience that is intended I'll gladly update this to a positive review. Until then buyer beware, you're in for a truly awful time as it currently stands.

Fantastic game, game play is very enjoyable and the story is entertaining if not a little convoluted. Side-stories give the game a persona kind of feel without having to worry about time management.

Only thing I'd dock points for are the horrific side quests, most aren't worth doing and the ones that are... are questionably worth your time. If you're like me and feel the need to go out of your way and remove them from your map / quest list it gets a little grading.

I would like to see more titles like this from BAMCO.

This game is really long, there's a lot to do and if you stick with it it'll reward you with a really compelling story, unexpectedly wholesome characters, and a lot of all out attacks.

I don't regret any of my time playing this, even the more tedious parts get made up for at the end you'll just have to see for yourself.

p.s. Thank you atlus for expanding your PC presence, you probably get the idea by now but a lot of us really appreciate it.

Early Access Review
There are legitimately some cute ideas regarding changing up some of the battle royale games, but good lord this should not have been made playable this soon. I imagine Boss Key put this out to drum up hype and raise some money to keep from going under, but man is it rough.

Play this with extreme caution, and expect nothing to work and you'll come out with an experience.. Is it going to be a good one? Maybe one day.

Bar none one of the best games I've ever played, if you're even remotely thinking about playing this read no further and purchase it.

Minor porting issues aside, in the end you won't regret it.
