One of the best co-op games I've ever played. If possible, go in blind. Don't look at any lets plays or in-depth reviews.

Weirdly kinda feels more like a Jade Empire sequal then a DAO continuation. And honestly, im here for it. Love it so far.

Im so freaking tired of open world ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I just wanted a nice linear, story driven, action fantasy game, and that's what I'm getting. No micro transaction live service garbage here. Feels like a bit of og bioware.
(Just please don't suddenly become open world after 15hours....)

Don't play this on PC.
As a PC game its really kinda bad. Poorly optimized, horrible ui (its just the mobile ui but somehow covers even more screen space) and pretty meh controls for pc.
I really hate the trend of half-assed android game to pc ports and this is no exception. The only nice thing is syncing your world between devices, so you could use this PC version is a last ditch option to play if you break/loose your phone.

Play it on Android.

As an Android game, on the platform and devices it was designed for, it's honestly fantastic.
Breath of the Wild aesthetic (and some gameplay elements) with valheim-ish crafting and progression, mounts, npc companions to play with, 4-player co-op, and a surprisingly good build mode.

This game on Android has become my new addiction.

Early Access Review
What if a live service game was offline.....and fun?

That's pretty much Wayfinder. It has just enough of the live service like elements that keep you jumping in for a few minutes here and there, while not being a massive grind or a monetization hell hole.

I wasn't interested at all when it was a free to play live service game (god the live service fatigue is real), but now that's its offline with peer-to-peer drop in co-op and a revamped progression system, I'm totally onboard.

A rant on the whole microtransaction controversy;

Microtransactions in a paid game sucks and was a really bad move on the part of capcom that trashed a really good games rep right out of the gate.

But seriously, it has been blown so far out of proportion by the "media" and sheeple(TM) who haven't even played the game, that its actually starting to make me want to buy some of these out of spite.

Fast travel is not locked behind a paywall or any other nonsense, wakestones are easy enough to get and you even get an item to help you track them down fairly early on, gaol keys are easy to come by and there are plenty of other ways to get out of gaol, the character appearance change book is like 5k to buy in game (which is nothing), and rift crystals are mostly pointless and rack up quick anyway.

The only one that's really even useful is the Warp Location marker, and you get one of them anyway during the main quest line.

Alright, rant over. Its still ridiculous and Capcom should be ashamed.

Performance wise, I have some minor stuttering/drop issues in town but other than that its running great nearly maxed out with raytracing enabled, though I do have a Ryzen 9 5950X and a 7800xt so it better lol

The game itself is fantastic. It scratches so much of that old Skyrim itch that if it ran at all playable on my steamdeck I'd probably be over a 100hrs into it by now.

The quests rarely hold your hand and not having a bunch of quest giver markers and ubisoft-like open world busy work has been such a breath of fresh air.
And some of the little things this game does just blows me away. Like one of the moments that just made me pause and stare for a second; I was exploring a tower and walked off the edge of ledge and as I plummeted towards my Pawn below I thought "welp this is going to hurt" only to have my Pawn CATCH me and gently set me down and tell me to be careful.

There's tons of little things and interactions like that in the game that you really just need to experience for your self.

The combat and exploration is fun, if occasionally tiring with the enemy respawns. It would have been nice if you could atleast semi-permanently clear out the main roads.

The only real complaint I have is the Pawns will not shut up! They don't have enough variety in the normal background chatter for the frequency they talk, and I swear to god I will make it my mission in life to break every freaking ladder in this game!

tl;dr
microtransactions suck. game is great. buy game. dont buy microtransactions. LADDERS!

So now all the sudden its completely resting my progress in story mode when I die. When did this change? It used to restart the section, not the entire run. Kinda kills my desire to play through story mode now.

I put in about 60 hours on Stadia (RIP) over early access and now I've put in another 50 and I still haven't even left ACT 1.
I haven't loved exploring a game world this much since Skyrim. I just hope the modding community can keep this thing going for over a decade as well.
