This game reeks with unfinished and unpolished traits of an early access game. There’s a few glitches and little content currently. This is why I’m so excited for what’s in store because I’m only 12 hours into the game right now and I can safely say that risk of rain 2 has such immersive and deep gameplay of any indie game I’ve played in years. I play while listening to podcasts and it is such a relaxing time. I can easily spend another 16-20 hours unlocking everything there currently is in the game because it’s such a good game. 10/10 Don’t wait for a sale.

Good for wasting time. It’s easy to get immersed and devote hours to building up a civilization to conquer the world. It’s also great to play with friends. 8/10

A game about being a lawyer doesn’t sound exciting, but when you start to dissect the cases and get deep into the narrative, you’ll find more than enough heart racing, intense moments. If you didn’t play the ds games then this is the perfect way to get into a story driven puzzle/mystery game/games. There is a lot of content here as it includes all three of the original Nintendo ds games. However, if you did play the ds games then there’s nothing here for you. 8/10

It’s difficulty gives it length but your determination and motivation decide whether you pull through and finish it. Beating a boos in this game is the most satisfying feeling in the world which, backed up by its amazing soundtrack, good gameplay, and good controlls, makes it an amazing game. 9/10

When I start up this game for a little bit and look back at the clock, I realize that I’ve been there for 5 hours instead of the intended 30 mins. Good game 10/10

If you buy this game you won't be disappointed. It's well worth the 30-20 dollars which gets you an amazing, adrenaline filled campaign and an alright multiplayer. There's a lot of replayability within the campaign due to all the secrets and challenges. You could easily waste up to 20 hours trying to look for everything there is.

I have been a big fan of the Metal Gear series since I was in middle school, but I had never actually played a game in the series prior to this one, so I had a lot of anticipation to truly experience the franchise. For all this hype and grandiose marketing for this game, I personally also had a bit of worry going in as well. Knowing the strife that happened in development and the ultimate falling out between publisher Konami and series creator Hideo Kojima I tried to balance my feelings of being a fan of the series, what the game was marketed as and the grim future of the series in evaluating the game. I’m happy to report that the game on it’s own merits was quite enjoyable but suffers from flaws created by how much potential it could have had to be the grand send off to the franchise it wanted to be. Starting off with the gameplay, Metal Gear Solid 5 has the most refined the series has offered so far. The game presents itself in a series of missions the player can tackle at their own pace, with a series of side ops and free roaming to collect resources and money to increase Big Boss’s private army, Diamond Dogs, and his personal arsenal of gear. When selecting a mission a prep screen opens which is used to pick and choose Snake takes with him. This creates a range of possibilities with some weapons being lethal and non-lethal, choosing to go with less tools to save money, or spend more money to bring in gear if the mission requires combat. In the start of the game Snake will start with a basic gun and gear, but building up resources gives the opportunity to develop and use much stronger weapons. This progression feels quite natural and I felt so satisfied unlocking all types of heavy weapons using them to replay missions ultimately changing my strategy from my first attempts. In addition Snake can also bring in buddies with him D-Horse for faster travel, D-Dog a wolf with the ability to find enemies and prisoners to rescue, Quiet a sniper who can provide combat support, and D-Walker a robot that’s a combination of the three. Personally I found D-Dog the most useful, but each has their own advantage and aside from D-Walker I liked using the variety and skills each had to offer. All of this variety creates a range of possible strategies, which while the game suffers from one or two dominant plans created such a wide amount of options that I played over and over to see them play out. The gameplay just flows so well and naturally and is easily one of the highlights the game has to offer. In addition to field missions, Snake must also build up his private army Diamond Dogs by rescuing prisoners and capturing enemy soldiers. These soldiers provide the ability to create better weapons in the R&D team, locate enemy and resource positions on the map, and the combat team can do missions for you to obtain more resources. There is also a main hub base where some of the soldiers walk around you can travel to, which helped the immersion and made me feel like an infamous warlord with a global organization at my command. Not only was the gunplay fun, but the resource manager elements were not bad and gave me a sense of power especially knowing it would loopback to help me perform missions that much easier. For all the praise gameplay-wise the story is a bit more of a mixed bag for me. While having prior knowledge of the characters and stories is useful, the plot is more self-contained than most and I think could be an okay game to enter the series with. The plot centers on Big Boss (also named Snake) as he and his allies track down the villainous Skull Face, who destroyed their old operation. Snake will not stop in his quest to stop Skull Face’s plans and ultimately exact his revenge. Ultimately the game's theme of revenge drives the story the majority of the game and while it has some insightful things to say at times, it gets a little pretentious. The game does suffer from a massive pacing problem and sometimes it is easy to forget the plot developments that have happened because of it. The game also divides itself into two chapters and when the game enters chapter two it can really drag with not much feeling of progression. Finally there’s a final plot twist at the end which is a bit divisive, I did not have a problem with it but I felt it was a little flat. With that Metal Gear Solid 5 was a fantastic game. The gameplay is the best in the series and has provided me with hours of enjoyment and satisfaction. The story is all over the place, but is entertaining sometimes for better or worse when it does pickup. This game has a lot of incredible things it does well, however it is noticeable that it is missing features and has cut some of the story which holds it back. It had a whole lot more potential, but that doesn’t stop it from being a great game and makes me wish they can build off what this game presents if the franchise were to continue. 8/10
