Very good mix between action and puzzle.

This is an FPS that's so real that it makes other so-called realistic games look really bad. You can carry only one weapon. The ammunition is so slim that you have to make economic choices. I find myself constantly thinking (and not enduring level after level like every other FPS) throughout the gameplay because it requires you to observe, and act carefully. Otherwise you'll just die drooling on the floor with a bullet in your back.

The mechanics of the guns are definitely top of the nudge. If you are a gun lover you probably would love this game because it not only features the classic pistols Glock 17, Colt 1911 and a S&W Model 10 revolver, but also precise emulation of operations of guns. You need to co-ck the hammer, pull the slide, fill the magazine, release the safe. That is, like everything you need to do with a real gun.

With some luck I beat the game, And I feel we need more games like this in the industry.

For its fun I give it 7 out of 10. If there are more guns, better graphics, more sinister story, I'll probably give it a 9.

This game tells a story of another group of survivors except the previous protagnist Tylor. Basically nothing big is changed except that they added a character upgrade system besides the weapon upgrade system, and that there are three fighting characters instead of one since you are only allowed to carry 3 weapons plus granades.

First of all, the linux port run okay but there's a sound issue that is very annoying. After a while the sounds seem to be competing each other for the speaker and the gun shots are skipping, and then it breaks down completely and there is no more sound. I'll have to restart the game to get the sounds back, and if this happens in mid game then I must finish the level companied with complete silence since there are no saves. This happens a lot when there's a lot of environmental sound like rain and snow. It's like ten times I had to restart before I can finish this game.

I think this game has a lot of potential but somewhat inferior compared to the previous Shadowgrounds. Design is sloppy because there're no new monsters, and there isn't one boss (or there is? i can't remember). Three characters are a redundancy except for the story to unfold because there are no online multiplayer, and the story is simply too short for all of them to get their own stage.

I'm rather disappointed with this game because there's only silght graphic boost and they basically just reused elements that were available. The story aren't good.

I played the DRM-free Linux version from Humble Bundle, so review is partly on that.

The game is a little bit addictive so you would wanna finish it in one run. But don't do that, somehow I get some dizziness after doing several levels at once. Maybe it's the graphics that's doing the trick on me, I don't know. Playtime is about 8 hours which is just about right.

Graphics are a little bit outdated for todays standard, on par with that of Half-life 1, but that's just because I play this game so late at 8 years after its release. But do not be alarmed, despite the deplorable graphics, it actually gives out very good gaming experience. It doesn't have a lot of tracks of music, but it do always play the right one when it gets intense or mysterious. Sound effects are good, every weapon has a different punch and that's all I ask for.

But the game does fail in one category. Because it is a top-down shooter, the player can only see part of the scene laid out. So the mood is basically just the brightness switch. Darker for scary places and brighter for other, I just don't feel there's any other emotions it wish to promote. It's a plain action game to me. And there just isn't enough magnificent architectures while there should be plenty. In short, it's a little bit repetitive changing from scene to scene because they didn't invest a lot of design works to make any one of the levels stands out (except the last one). Gladly the game is still a lot of fun, mostly because of the weaponry and the upgrade system added colors to the game. Besides that, the difference monsters well thought out, so there's a lot of tactics and quirks going on. You won't be bored because they are challenging.

Overall score: 7/10.

Cutting stones and make you way is an fantastic idea of game, but too bad this game didn't live up to its full potential. At first it's fun but later I just feel repetitive that I won't give it another try after I beated it. Only recommend it if on sale.

Music is very cool and modern, actually worths purchasing the soundtrack if you plan to.
