Spawned the whole BR craze but feels dated and janky now. Occasionally worth playing with friends for the memories, but Apex and Warzone are just better games.

I guess hybrid shooter/TD games, in theory, are attempts to reduce the downtime of pure TD games by letting you shoot during rounds. Sanctum falls flat at this because enemies are just nonreactive bullet sponges. I found the game really boring.

Not a very compelling survival & crafting game. It's cute but the spritework, exploration, and combat all fall flat for me. The combat also never clicked -- enemies seem to have way too much health and the movement tech required to not take crazy amounts of damage still eludes me.

An addictive roguelite masocore platformer. I love this game because every death feels fair and semi-random level generation keeps levels feeling fresh. Item/AI/level interactions are also funny. While it technically has local co-op, it’s not very fun because your friends will probably suck at the game and burn your hearts.

Mordhau is probably the best multiplayer sword-fighting game out there, but the sheer amount of time you'll need to dump into the non-transferable skill of PC sword duelling to be any good at it is a little off-putting for casual play. Also off-putting: the game attracts deus vult types.

The original XCOM was something I only read about in old PC Gamer magazines before this came out, and I was hooked. For all its faults, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a stylish and brainy tactics game that nails the vibe of fighting aliens. It’s superseded in a lot of ways by XCOM 2, but respect where it’s due.

A love letter to the original Wipeout games. I love the handling and the retro cyberpunk vibes to death.
