imo, when preteens try the "more mature persona" thing, -especially- if it's just over text, they tend to overcompensate, cuz it's already hard enough to convey your age through a text's tone as-is. That, and kiddos tend to have that "really spontaneous & eager for attention" thing going no matter how hard they try to suppress it, which tends to be the biggest giveaway. iirc the specific thing that made me go "bruh i think I'm talking to a 12-year-old rn" was how badly you wanted me (a random forum-goer who was asking you to buy me DLC for laughs) to watch you stream FNaF.

i was 11 nearly 12 at the time, great guess! what gave it away? i always had a little persona cause i knew the stigma around young kids (0-14 seems to be the most hated age range online)
