Very intriguing game, uncovering a story through exploration and triggering voice overs. Recommend playing through in one sitting, probably not much re-playability. Beautiful soundtrack.

I know I'm like 6 years late with this review, but what the hell...

Takes a while to get into, but if you're a fan of Bioware RPGs you'll know what you're in for. Solid RPG system with a plethora of side quests, weapon customisation and combinations, and a levelling system with more skills than you know what to do with.

The storyline is good, although I would have preferred the main story missions to have taken place across more than 4 worlds. When the galaxy map has so many systems to explore, it can get a bit tedious without breaking it up with a story progressing mission.

The one thing it took me a while to realise was that to get the most out of the game, you have to do your research. In other words, looking up the mission and conversation choice outcomes before actually doing them. This isn't ideal, as you end up basically reading the game in chunks and then playing them through. The most obvious example of this is choosing your starting character. After going with the default, I then did some reading around, discovered that femshep has superior voice acting, and that there were other backstories that I found more interesting. Luckily I discovered this only 3 hours in...

The biotic powers are cool, I chose vanguard and do not regret a thing. The combo of pistol for long range, and shotgun with the biotic assault powers at close range was really enjoyable. I chose a backstory of a ruthless colonist, and unfortunately the game makes it hard to play as renegade without coming across as a complete ♥♥♥♥♥/jackass. I ended up with only slightly more renegade that paragon by the end, as some of the renegade decisions would result in missed opportunities in this game and the sequels.

Oh and you can have sexytimes with an alien.
