It's ok.

Initial money requirements for playing BDO:

If you don't care about endgame PvP but still want to PvP a little while also doing some lite lifeskilling - Between 400-800 bucks for pets/outfits/weight limit and an additional 15 per month for a value pack. This is assuming you're going to stop at around Tri boss gear and some decent duo accessories most of your money will be dumped into Artisan Memories.

If you only plan to lifeskill, between 500-1000+ bucks for pets/multiple outfits/max weight limit and an additional 15 per month for a value pack. Lifeskillers need high tier pets like hedgehogs and that takes RNG but you do not need to dump any cash into enchanting your weapons or armor since the eventual goal with lifeskilling is simply to make all of your gear purchases off of the auction house and circumvent enchanting all together. This route will take you at least 2 years to start making some decent silver, however.

If you plan to get into endgame pvp while also doing some lifeskilling then you will be looking to spend anywhere from 1000 to infinity. For instance I have dropped 400 dollars simply trying to TET a pair of Bhegs gloves. May RNGjesus be in your favor.

If you're just looking for a fun game to play to pass some time and not get too invested; a 10 dollar initial investment for the game and another 50-80 bucks so you don't go crazy with weight limit and not having any pets.

tldr;
Don't get into BDO if you don't have some sort of disposable income and enough free time for a second full-time job. The game is actually really great and Kakao has come a long way to improving the game from where it was a couple years ago. Without a doubt best combat system in any MMO ever created, i've been playing MMO's for about 14 years now so I can say that with full confidence.

Jump in for 10 bucks, try the game out. If you like what you see and can afford having a second or third GF then dive on in my dude.

You don't really need to spend money anymore. Game is good just play.
