If you wanna go fast this is a good one.

This is a great game. Easily one thats going to be memorable.

Burned into my brain.

If you can get past the spooky and as you get into the mechanics its a rewarding experience. The lore is twisted, in more ways than the obvious. The gameplay itself is ace, combat is engaging but getting body blocked and stunlocked from hitting is urgh... you learn to avoid getting in those situations. Patience and caution is key but being overly cautious will cost you time and make you tense.

10/10. Replay value is like maybe a 3 or 4 time. I know the devs worked hard on this game but I would love to see more of this lore. Runs great on deck however the controls for me I need the good old mouse and keys for this.

I gave up after I had to look up what to do in the game for the third time.

As someone who has finished Rainworld, Dont Starve Together and Elden Ring among others without using guides this game is just terrible. It might get better but having to constantly look up how to play the game is an instant no for me. I want to play a game and feel engaged while playing it not get constantly annoyed and wonder what to do.

This is a great game. Hits my vibe spot on. The music is like dark ambient, the art design is brutal. When first encountering some NPCs "yo wtf?!"
The lore is solid when you dig into it, gameplay is fun and engaging. Its difficult but not too difficult. You can learn from every death.

One issue with this game: why put precision platforming into an action platformer? That Miriam questline... to quote a random user when I looked up what the reward for the quest was: “Just a prayer? Good this garbage isn't worth doing” and yes, its not worth doing. The handling of your character does not compliment movement outside of fighting. The platforming generally is fine and not too annoying but that quest (which is optional) is just gross and out of place.

Other than that problem, one of the top indie games out. You are missing out by not playing.

I look forward to starting the 2nd one.

I kinda cant believe it took me this long to play Hollow Knight.
Its a fantastic game. A true "soulslike" platformer. The music is awesome.

It takes a little while to realize whats going on, and even when you start having a clue there's more to work out still.
The handling is fun. Very engaging gameplay.

When I got to the end I was going to try for 100% but while trying I had a moment of "is it worth it?" and no, its not for me. Honestly smashing my head against a wall in Rainworld is a lot more fun.
Its still a great game. Fast travel is probably the only problem with the game. Lots of backtracking and no way to save time by simply warping to a location. Some bosses the nearest "save" is a distance away and that can become annoying on some boss fights. I just want to fight the boss, yeah? yeah.

Certain bosses are not fun nor engaging to fight. They are straight up tedious. Killing them once, okay kewlies (the normal way of spelling "cool-ies" got censored?) but having to fight them a 2nd time to get the dream essence? nope. f that. not in the mood to sweat it out on a boss that isnt fun and completion just makes number go up.

maybe ill eventually return and complete more.... but there's so many games...

Runs great on the Steamdeck. There are moments where the frames will drop, like if you are in town and there is a lot going on. But for most gameplay its smooth.

I have the music from the game playing in my head as I write this lmao.

Its a lot of fun and there's a lot of game to get through. It feels a little limited though when it comes to what you can do with the town, not sure whats missing... feels like theres a gap there.

Great fun though.

Mouse + Keyboard really is the best for this though. If you can solo bosses with controller, welcome to godhood.

One of my most favourite games.

Everything about this game is great. Do you feel like the devs are trolling you? They probably are.
The game doesnt hold your hand. You will die a lot and you will learn what to do in order to not die.

Its a brutal game only for the most persistent of gamers. Harder than soulslike? kinda maybe. It has moments that you could say are pretty wild compared to souls games.

You can solo your way through the entire game, but that takes a gamer god to do. Some bosses are easy to learn to solo, others can take a few different strategies to overcome. Trial and error is the way forward.

This is a hard one to review.

On one hand, the single player experience is great. I would recommend the game based on that.
However, I mostly played the online. About 90% of my playtime was online.
The cheating that goes on, modders who cannot die and decide to explode you constantly... so lack of decent support.
The online was completely abandoned for content updates. It had so much potential.

Those years ago now when it happened I decided to never spend my money on a rockstar game.

So yah... single player = amazing. multiplayer and community engagement = byebye rockstar.
