This is a blasting good space sim, it does not have building features as the X series, but instead focuses on the player building its own story on space, a 300.000 discoverable stars space with realistic time lapses and calculations. Which, honestly, I enjoyed more. Interacting with real people (even though space can feel desolate at times, but hey! it's SPACE, what did we want from it?). The CQC (PVP) is fun, it is quick and action packed (taking aside the time to time AFK, but that's the risk of having an online multiplayer people are just going to be AFK, no matter what, no matter how); some may say the CQC is out of context, but for me it was a very good implementation. After a +100 hours spent I do recommend Elite: dangerous it can be played with or without a joystick without major disadvantages. Giving the player the freedom of choosing between 5 major incomes (at the time this review was made) Bounty hunter/fighter, merchant/hauler, explorer, pirate and miner; you can make your story your own. Choose a faction or be a lawless brat on space, your choice. About the DLCs discussions, it is only understandable they are not free, and Frontier makes its best to make your money count, comparing what you pay for what you get, these dlcs with tons of ships and planet are better deals that a $9 dlc for two maps on any FPS.
