Metaphor: ReFantazio is the fantasy RPG you didn't know you neededā€”imagine the best parts of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei mixed with a rich, fantastical world, and youā€™ve got an idea of what this game offers.

Quick take: If you're into Atlus RPGs, Metaphor will feel like home. It brings you:

Character connections that deepen over time (think Social Links but in a more medieval setting).
Swappable Archetypes that function similarly to Personas.
A dungeon companion who's always in your ear, guiding and supporting you, and probably destined to unlock a hidden power of their own (calling back to characters like Futaba or Teddie).
A time management system, complete with a calendar and day/night cycles, making you balance your in-game activities.
A mysterious protagonist with the usual 'I can't remember my past' trope, giving you that classic Atlus feel.
A secret room that only the protagonist can access, inhabited by a mysterious white-haired figure named More, who helps you harness your Archetypes (definitely Igor vibes here).
This might not be set in a high school, but Metaphor brings the same stylish flair you loved in Persona 5. The gameā€™s menus and UI, while distinct in their own right, carry over that same artistic, high-energy aesthetic, making every part of the experience visually appealing and engaging. It's miles ahead of the more conventional RPG interfaces, and the flow works beautifully with the game's mechanics.

Combat feels dynamic and strategic. Nailing an enemy's weakness is as satisfying as ever, and if youā€™ve got the right strategy, you can wipe out entire waves before they get a chance to retaliate. But if youā€™re unprepared, be ready for a grind as you chip away at enemies with the wrong moves. Luckily, there are Informants throughout the game who can tip you off about what lies ahead in the dungeonsā€”use their info if you like, or go in blind and figure things out for yourself.

One major shift from Persona? Youā€™re not the only one who can switch between Archetypes. Every companion you meet has their own unique Archetype, and after unlocking theirs in a dramatic, Persona-esque cutscene, you can equip it on any party member, including yourself. Unlocking Archetypes for your squad just requires some Magla, a secondary currency used specifically for this system.

Once youā€™re far enough into the game, you can switch and upgrade Archetypes in the middle of a dungeon without having to go back to the magical room, giving you more flexibility as you face tougher challenges.

Metaphor: ReFantazio takes everything Atlus does well and pushes it into a fantasy realm, offering a fresh experience for longtime fans while staying true to what makes their games so compelling. With deep character interactions, stylish presentation, and tactical combat, itā€™s an Atlus RPG through and throughā€”just with a bit more swords and sorcery this time around.

Mirage Feathers is a refreshing twist on the classic rail-shooter genre, with a slick anime aesthetic and engaging, fast-paced gameplay. You play as Notari, a cybernetic fighter pilot in a futuristic world, where the goal is to blast through waves of enemies using a combination of smart targeting and firepower. The game makes it easy to lock onto enemies with its intuitive targeting system, so you can focus on the action and enjoy the chaos of aerial dogfights.

One of the coolest features is the OVERDRIVE mode. When you trigger this, itā€™s like going into beast modeā€”your attacks become supercharged, allowing you to destroy everything in sight. The game keeps things fresh by letting you upgrade your weapons as you defeat tougher enemies, giving you new tools and playstyles to experiment with. Plus, thereā€™s a cool AI companion named Luciolla who not only helps in battle but also adds depth to the story.

Mirage Feathers has two main modes: Story Mode, where you follow a narrative with charming character art and emotional twists, and Endless Mode, which is all about surviving against increasingly difficult enemies. And if things get too tough, the game includes some cheeky cheat codes for an extra boost.

The anime vibes, combined with tight gameplay and interesting characters, make Mirage Feathers a standout rail shooter for fans of fast action and engaging storytelling

From the moment you step into the Raccoon City Police Department (RPD), Resident Evil 2 grips you with its oppressive atmosphere. The gameā€™s visual overhaul, powered by the RE Engine, brings incredible detail to the environments, making every dark hallway, bloodstained floor, and crumbling wall feel both realistic and terrifying. The use of lighting and shadows, combined with the impeccable sound design, creates an atmosphere of tension and dread that never lets up.

The over-the-shoulder camera, a departure from the originalā€™s fixed perspectives, modernizes the gameplay while maintaining the horror. This shift provides a more immersive and fluid experience without sacrificing the claustrophobic, heart-pounding moments that Resident Evil is known for. Each encounter with zombies is nerve-wracking, as enemies are tougher and more unpredictable, requiring careful resource management and precise aiming to survive. Every shot counts, and the game constantly pushes you to make smart decisions, whether it's about conserving ammo or deciding when to engage or flee.

Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, the game's dual protagonists, are wonderfully brought to life with updated character models, performances, and voice acting. Their individual stories, which overlap in intriguing ways, add depth to the overall narrative. Playing through both characters' campaigns offers unique perspectives on the outbreak, with different weapons, scenarios, and enemies, encouraging replayability.

One of the standout features of Resident Evil 2 is the return of the infamous Mr. X. His relentless pursuit of the player throughout the police station is one of the most terrifying aspects of the game. The constant threat of being stalked by this towering, unstoppable force adds a layer of suspense that keeps you on edge at all times. His heavy footsteps echoing through the halls as he gets closer is a masterful touch that increases the tension dramatically.

Puzzles, another hallmark of the series, have been revamped as well. They strike the perfect balance between challenging and intuitive, rewarding careful exploration and observation without feeling frustrating. The backtracking and item management that defined the original Resident Evil 2 are present here, but theyā€™re streamlined in a way that respects modern players' expectations without losing the essence of what made the original gameā€™s design so compelling.

The game also offers plenty of fan service for longtime players, from familiar locations to iconic enemies like the Lickers, but it does so in a way that feels fresh. The addition of unlockable modes like The 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor provides extra challenges for hardcore fans, keeping the experience engaging long after the credits roll.

In short, Resident Evil 2 is not just a successful remakeā€”itā€™s a survival horror masterpiece. Capcom has managed to recapture the magic of the original while making it accessible and exhilarating for a new generation of players. Whether youā€™re a veteran of the series or a newcomer, Resident Evil 2 delivers a terrifying, unforgettable experience that stands among the best in the genre.

Lies of P is an exceptional action RPG that reimagines the classic Pinocchio tale in a dark, gothic setting, blending elements of Bloodborne-inspired combat with a deeply atmospheric world. Neowiz Games has crafted a game that not only pays homage to its inspirations but stands tall as a unique and captivating entry in the soulslike genre.

From the very first moments, Lies of P immerses you in its hauntingly beautiful world. The city of Krat is a dark, steampunk dystopia filled with eerie automatons, sinister secrets, and a pervasive sense of dread. The art direction is stunning, with detailed environments that feel both desolate and alive, full of mystery waiting to be uncovered. The visual design, combined with a moody, atmospheric soundtrack, creates an experience thatā€™s equal parts haunting and enthralling.

Combat in Lies of P is intense, precise, and unforgiving, requiring players to master the timing of dodges, parries, and well-timed attacks. The game borrows heavily from the soulslike formula but adds its own twists to make the experience feel fresh. Pinocchio's mechanical arm offers a range of customizable gadgets and weapons, allowing for creative strategies and fluid combat. Whether youā€™re facing agile clockwork soldiers or hulking, nightmarish bosses, every encounter feels thrilling and challenging.

One of the standout features is the game's unique narrative approach. Lies of P cleverly intertwines the themes of lies, choice, and humanity, adding layers of depth to the story. Your decisions throughout the game, particularly when it comes to truth versus deception, affect the outcome, providing a sense of moral ambiguity that keeps you questioning what it means to be "human." The Pinocchio lore is cleverly woven into this dark fantasy, with familiar characters and motifs being given a sinister, mature twist that feels fresh and engaging.

Character progression is rewarding, with a robust skill tree and weapon customization system that allows you to tailor your playstyle. The game offers a variety of ways to approach combat, from aggressive, fast-paced tactics to more defensive, calculated maneuvers. The variety of weapons and arm upgrades ensure that no two playthroughs feel the same, keeping the gameplay engaging over the long haul.

Lies of P is more than just a homage to soulslike games; itā€™s a meticulously crafted, deeply atmospheric experience that stands on its own merits. With its challenging combat, rich narrative, and beautifully dark reimagining of the Pinocchio mythos, itā€™s a must-play for fans of the genre and anyone who enjoys a well-told, immersive story. Itā€™s a haunting journey that leaves a lasting impression, blending gothic horror and action RPG excellence into one unforgettable package.
