edit: I have reached a point in the game where it either runs at 14fps or the camera bugs out so the game is just actually straight up not playable now (I reiterate 4090laptop and a 13950hx)

another terrible graphics good game piggy backing off the name of a long dead franchise.

game is more concerned with a mediocre story and terrible graphics then making an actual monster hunter game. you no longer have any agency as the player and are instead required to constantly sit and do nothing while the seikret plays the game for you during 5 minute exsposition dumps that happens before and after literally 50% of cutscene's. I hope you dont like the freedom to pick and choose the monster you want to fight and farm in an open ended action rpg experience because for the majority of the game you sit and do as told ad nauseam; dialogue, seikret ride, cutscene, fight, dialogue, seikret ride, cutscene, fight, over and over again.

naturally because its a (graphics good) game it runs terrible despite looking like mediocre garbage 99% of the time, which is kinda funny because the game is so concerned with telling a mediocre story you almost definitely wont care about if you dont already. It really the whole package. terrible and inconsistent frame rates if it be from area to area or just the miserable frame time which make 70 fps feel like 15.

lets talk about that "70" fps number. that's on a laptop 4090, with dlss quality, with frame gen. and naturally the dlss is basically terrrible, the worst ive seen since the days of the 20 series dlss. constant shimmering, reverse ghosting, ray dau become more and more of a blurry blob the further away he gets.

none of this is to mention the constant texture popping and other graphical oddity's like how the game runs worse for me on my 1440p monitor then my 4k one (yes I changed the resolution when switching between them).

oh btw hope you werent hoping for proper hdr support in 2025. its about the same as world's hdr which is to say its not real hrt and it looks terrible no matter what.

the only redeeming quality is that the combat pacing is closer to an actual monster hunter game rather then rise or worlds zero stakes, high speed/octane, roll cancel fest but that isn't saying much since almost all of the other mechanics that required you to use your brain and prepare have been removed.

in summary the actual monster hunter franchise of old is officially dead, and future games will be further bastardized into generic (graphics good :D !) action story games that are easily digestible by as much people by doing anything short of removing monsters.

this is it for me, mh3u-mhwi

"hey guys what if we completely trashed csgo and made a game that is objectively worse in every way that will require months of patches to be remotely playable competitively and will prevent the majority of players from having a competitive chance by making it an infinity harder game to run? and then well basically abandon the game leaving them with less content thats riddled with bugs as opposed to if we had stuck with the objectively better game!"

simply unplayable;

this game should have been delayed and was clearly rushed out the door to meet sales reports. the performance ranges from unpleasant to a stuttering and freezing mess, this is especially a problem for areas with heavy foliage like the terminade centric missions. the multiplayer is extremely barebones and really could have done with a simple survival mode to test how far you can go.

the game luanched without features are unacceptable for a 60 dollar game to launch without like ultrawide, hdr, frame generation. And then they have the audacity to put ultrawide on the roadmap like its something we should be grateful for, like people who have ultrawide monitors aren't important and don't deserve a certain degree of quality for a game that's almost worth an entire days pay for some. and they're the lucky ones, atleast they got acknowledged, own an oled? enjoy a flat grey muddy mess. Or if you use rtx hdr, an over saturated, over contrasted, blown out mess.

the combat system is probably the diamond in this stinking pile of s*** but it turns out to be dross due to the ridiculous oversights of such a rushed product. in the coop they're is a feature that randomly selects a major enemy to call for units and this is an incentive for you to target that enemy before you get dogpiled by a ton more. only problem is, the game doesn't check if the enemy is in line of sight or even remotely close to you before it chooses to do this so you'll be at the end of a big encounter of a boss and some enemy will be across in the middle of @$$ nowhere and it just spawns another hive ship of enemies on you before you have gained your footing. I have had multiple instances where the enemy has done this while INSIDE the collusion or out of the play area behind cover. besides that they're are multiple enemies with their own unique issues, the zoanthroaps can stunlock you with its multi hit orb attack striping you of all your armor and most of your hp, the nuerothrops radial scream randomly hits you even if you dodged it, the carnifexs charging attack hitbox is wildly inaccurate, and the chaos thrower rubric marine often spams its unblockables for an absurd and has a hitbox larger then its modeled for its radial unblockable which is completely avoidable in future engagements but it just radiate a complete lack of quality and care.

and finally the straw that broke the camels back for me, the latest "content drop". You get a whole one mission which probably should have been in the base game tbh going by the lack of content for the eye watering price, a new difficulty, and some balance adjustments.

lets start with the balance changes because its relatively straight forward; focus entertainment took the brave and innovated hell divers 2 approach of ignoring all the issues with the combat and instead nerfing the players tools while buffing the enemy ai. like I said, pretty straight forward.

the new mission is cool but feels pretty disappointing and more a or less is just unused content the didnt complete and not actual dlc.

the new difficulty is terrible. it introduces a new mechanic where you need to stay close to your brothers to regain armor however this is in tandem with a counter productive difficulty philosophy of (more extremus enemies at once and higher enemy stats) that in tandem with the lack of better rewards just makes it a objectively worse experience that is completely pointless, as you can imagine the lictor was not designed to be fought two at a time. this is a real easy fix tho, I think we can all agree the level 4 difficulty is still pretty easy and level 5 is unfair with its lack of any cohesion and game design (being just random **** at the wall) so all they need to do is delete level 5 and give the armor mechanic to level 4.

oh and they are still lying about fixing performance :3

most of the issues at launch have been addressed.

still extremely poor optimization for the games graphics and the devs are still acting like baby's.

good to see they backpedaled on the ps account link.

recently tried to give the game another chance and it consistently crashed as soon as the lobby opened this seems to not be an issue for most of my homies but my drivers are all up to date so there is nothing I can do.

great core gameplay, worst special enemies in the entire genre.

The 4 different classes are really fun and unique but zealot needs alot of work.

Almost all of the special enemies are dysfunctional or have some major issue;

-hounds ai are completely random and are infuriating to deal with when they camp in crowds of enemies. needs a complete overhaul or a less harsh punishment.

-the trappers audio hint is not sufficient for a game with as much going on at any given time as darktide.

-pox walkers audio is inconsistent and sometimes doesn't play until its too late.

-demon host sometimes doesn't glow or make noise until its too late.

-chaos spawn and plague ogryn lack any depth and spam grab repetitively.

the only specialists that work properly consistently are so generic that its pathetic even they are still buggy; sniper (has shot multiple bullets without cooldown), mutant (inconsistent hitboxes), and the bomber which ive never experienced any issues with.

those are just the main issues with the game but besides that there are many underlying issues such as;

-lack of content relative to its age for a live service game.

-very poor optimization for a game of this detail often changing on a update to update basis.

-many rendering issues, pixelated light sources, void dorways, ect.

-general glitches such as teleporting teammate recoveries further away and random crashes.

-barely any cosmetic progression with most of the cosmetics are locked behind a pay wall.

-severly lacking ui and setting customization.

-very basic character progression which the devs have put minimal effort in expanding on.

overall the game had a ton of potential but the devs apparent lack of enthusiasm to better the game over the almost 2 past years has lead to a very enjoyably skeleton with no flesh.

pretty good movement but otherwise the game is pretty bad; all of the gadgets are counter intuitive or prevent you from playing the objective. any gadgets that encourage an aggressive play style like the grappling hook is hastily programmed and barely functions.
