Does not work in VR. I have a Quest 3, using Virtual Desktop to stream games. I don't get the gray screen others are talking about, but I can't get the game to launch in VR mode, or switch to VR mode. I once got it into VR mode by killing the VD streamer app, then starting Squadrons, then starting VD, then in Squadrons switching to VR mode. But then the game was in some weird HDR mode where the colors in VR were all messed up. Basically getting the game into VR mode seems to only work if you jump through a bunch of hoops, and even then the colors are broken.

It's pretty middle of the road. I didn't find it as engaging as FC5. After finishing one of the three main areas (19 hours played) I decided to quit playing.

Yes, it’s very “Subnautica in Space” with respect to gameplay. But holy crap the writing and humor is terrible. I’ve got no problem with crude humor, but this feels like it was written by a middle school kid. I don’t know anything about the devs, so maybe they’re some student group. If so, good for them.

The suit AI that you listen to all the time spouts off this ridiculous, trying-to-be-edgy dialog with truly terrible voice acting. The game makes constant references to other games, and the fact that you’re playing a game. This can be done well, but in this game it really isn’t.

The visual design is solid, and the mechanics are solid. And I’m someone who plays games for their mechanics. With very few exceptions, even games with “good writing” are not that great IMO, so I’m used to ignoring dialog and poor writing in games, and just enjoying them for the mechanics. This game really makes it hard to enjoy because the writing is so juvenile. It’s not just the libtard / Mr. Hypocrite stupidity, either. All of the referential humor in the game comes across as written from the mindset of a teenager who’s full of themselves because they’re starting to understand how the world works and is trying to look worldly to their peers. And it’s CONSTANT in this game. Every single time you reach a new set-piece of geometry (a crashed ship, etc) you get some of this awful dialog from your suit AI.

The magic of subnautica was the combination of mechanics and tone. This game plays very much like a less-refined subnautica, but I can’t recommend it because the tone is that of a 15 year old edgelord.

I'm another person who really hates the lack of mid-game saves. A mistake or inattention causes you to lose a multi-hour campaign mission in less than a minute. It's just too much of a frustrating feeling, and I'm not enjoying the game as a result. I played 9 hours and I feel like the game is just not fun for me.

It's ok. Some puzzles take a lot longer to solve than their entertainment value supports. The maze in particular is when I stopped playing since it was just so many times sitting through a load screen as you go back and forth. I'd skip the game unless you are really starving for myst like puzzles. It doesn't really respect your time.

I played this in VR using a Rift. I appreciate the VR comfort aids like the transparent sphere, which helped a lot with motion sickness. I played most of the first level before feeling too ill to continue. But mostly I felt that it wasn't a very good game if you take away the VR aspect. The controls are inconsistent. I can't get a sense for where I will go when I jump.
