I had good basics at guitar before beginning to play Rocksmith, I don't know if it changed my capacity of learning. But today after around 3 to 6 months and in the 200 hours overall (not everything appears on steam) I can tell it's great to learn and just play. Because once you get enough practice, you can just start up a song you don't even know and manage to play through it without too much mistakes, so it's also good if you want to just play without printing the tabs and dealing with changing pages.

It even works on my super old laptop, so you don't need a massive computer to run the game.
