The Legend of Yumia: Breath of the Envisioned Land.

I appreciate how they dared to break free from the "cute girls doing cute things" formula, even thought it didn't last for long. Definitely a good direction in the series. Alchemy-wise I'm not a long-time player of the series, starting at Sophie, so I think the new mechanics are fine.

I enjoyed this game and its story, so why the thumbs down? Two reasons: first, there's a quest in-game that has one of the worst designs I've ever seen. In the second region, you need to complete 100% the pioneering effort tasks to get the slicing ammo; however one of the relay points of a shrine of prayer, required to get 100%, is protected exactly by a barrier that needs said ammo. Solution? You need to go back to the first region and talk to a nameless NPC that MAY spawn randomly at an specific place, which gives a handful of each ammo type.

Second, this game runs like hot garbage. I could run even Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on stable 75 FPS on my RTX 3070; this game couldn't stay on 50 most of the time even.

Turn-based Sekiro.

This game is impressive. It has one of the best stories I've seen in recent years, on top of a great OST, VAs and outstanding graphics. The mechanics are great as well, with some excellent synergies between party members and each character feeling quite unique with their own gimmicks.

All done by a team from a new studio of around 30 developers - there's definitely more that aren't directly part of Sandfall and which are rightfully listed in the credits, mind you. Even so, it took 5 years and is sold at full price for $50. This puts to shame many triple A studios feeding us hot garbage that barely runs without frame generation for $80 + season pass.

There's one big flaw in it for me: the parry/evasion system makes or breaks your experience. Hence my reference to Sekiro. It isn't just a matter of enemies hurting you and making the battle longer as you tend to your wounds; regular enemies soon start hitting you anywhere between 3 to 7 hits on a single attack, all of them with different patterns, timings and quirks, like the gradient attacks. On normal difficult its a matter of taking up to 3 hits at best to kill a party member that's built on vitality and defence, a.k.a. your tanker. Bosses you either parry it all or get trashed in an instant forcing you to try again.

Came for some action RPG, stayed for pantsus.

It's a nice crowdfunded game, part action part visual novel. Combat is good, albeit a tad basic. The enchantment system is a bit of a drag though. Story is short and sweet.

Why explain that the right analog stick is used to fire darts in all the control and help screens when you can leave your players to mald over finding it out? Good job Ryuu ga gotoku!

Need For Speed: World War III. If I could give a neutral recommendation I would. The first two (Asylum, City) are far better. Why?

The focus on the batmobile is obnoxious. You alone with your toy stand against hundreds of armored tanks. Its an absolute joke near the end. Also racing to catch firefly feels like your car is nothing but a skate. Shall I mention the bulky militia APCs making perfect curves in tight alleyways within the city, while you struggle to catch up?

Overall too forced, exaggerated. At the end it felt that I was weaker than in the beginning, the opposite of the previous two entries in the series. Wanna have some batman fun? Get Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, I've finished them multiple times, while this one I will never touch again.
