It took me quite a while to warm up to this... the crafting system was overwhelming, the perks system confusing. But stuff clicked eventually and now I'm loving my time just wandering around. At 60 hours I'm barely halfway through the main quest, but I guess that's always how it goes with these Fallout games.

really wanted to like this since im feeling nostalgic for some good ole o2jam. but man...
this is just sad. im not sure if the developers ever played the original o2jam. or even understood what made the game so fun in the first place.

why are the keys not sounded? in o2jam, it's obvious when you press the wrong keys or button mash randomly bec the song you're playing is gonna sound terrible. half of the fun in o2jam for me is messing up songs. it's hilarious when it happens. when you master a song later on, you feel rewarded bec the song now sounds perfect.

when you take away those sounded keys, then it's just boring. what's the point of playing the songs if they're all gonna sound the same no matter how much you suck or how much you master them.

for the looks of the keys, im glad that they listened to feedback and turned the space key into yellow/gold. here's hoping that they use the old style visuals too, with the middle D K keys smaller and colored blue, and the SFJL keys grey/silver. this current scheme is just not doing it for me. it's very confusing especially if you're used to the original o2jam.

i've also crashed twice in ten minutes. "Gameguard abnormally end! Please restart the game..." it says on the error pop up window. should that be happening? idk and at this point i just don't care anymore for this half-assed mess of a game.

Early Access Review
Spent an ungodly amount of time on this game since the start of quarantine. I love it so much, just the perfect game to play when you're cooped up at home.

Had a lot of fun in multiplayer with a friend but once I got started on build 41 I never looked back lol. The clothes and new animations are so pretty. I have a t-shirt collection now. Can't spam knife attacks like before but I like this new fighting system a lot even if it's a bit slower. It feels more hefty and realistic.

Excellent game. Love the quests, crew system, and the music. I've played a lot of Terraria before, and while some mechanics are conceptually similar, I find Starbound to be a little less tedious especially when it comes to mining and crafting.

What I would like to see more of:

1) More inspired weapons: I wish there were more interesting weapons in the game. Terraria weapons are outrageous, while Starbound weapons are a bit dull to me. The setting is out-of-this-world and crazy, why not throw in crazier weapons into the mix.

2) More variation when it comes to level design/layout: Yes, maps are procedurally-generated, I know. But I do find myself going to planets that only have minute variations from other planets I have visited before. Dungeon layouts and some locations are often repeated too.

The above are just minor gripes of mine. Overall, I find the game to be extremely charming and engrossing. Definitely a must buy if you like exploration/mining games.

*skips through boring credits*
"Telltale Games will remember that"
*Oh sh!t*

Kidding aside, this game is fantastic. The trademark Borderlands humor is there, which imo is even better than what you can find in the main BL games. You also get excellent writing, voice acting, plus a rocking soundtrack... The action parts can get a bit wonky in some places though (there were a few times when I was not sure if I missed button presses or not), but are still tons of fun.

Please Telltale, for the love of Loader Bot, make a second season of this.
