it's no goty (baldur's gate 3) but i absolutely enjoyed the game & i'm definitely gonna play a lot more of it when i get around to it, but i'm giving it a thumbs down in the hopes that todd howard himself will personally reply to me

Supposedly there's a racing game hidden under all the menus but ♥♥♥♥ if I'm gonna keep looking for it

update: ok yeah the released game is good

Just Cause 3 was such a great game that if they'd just repackaged the whole thing unchanged but on a new island it'd still be worth buying. Unfortunately, for Just Cause 4 they innovated on the formula in 2 ways: some weird grapple gimmicks that are kinda cool but inconsequential, and an absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful UI that sucks all the fun out.

Makes you install & log in to EA Origin in order to play. Adds the game to your Origin library, but with a "Steam" icon over it. The end result is that launching it from either service always checks that both are running before you can play. You can tell that the people who made this really hate their own customers.

Buy it directly from Origin if you can stomach it (requires less logins that way). If you can't, don't buy it at all.

(The game itself is... okay. It feels like the original (which was great) but made "too much"; every part of it has a bunch of unnecessary junk tacked on. Not just the infamous runner vision & combat, but also the story & lore - and the DRM platforms. Still pretty fun but not a classic like the original)

- tricked martin shkreli into buying a fake wutang album
- run over someone walking their dog, then watched as the dog sat down sorrowfully unmoving next to their corpse
- stumbled across a cheeki breeki gopnik rave complete with squatting, adidas & hardbass, then started a fight when I hit on one of the women
- HACKED THE PLANET

Got off to a worrying start - nobody is ever going to do as good a Cave Johnson as J. K. Simmons, and his lines tried a bit too hard to be funny - but once things actually got going (after like five loading screens worth of intro, lol) the rest of the voice acting and writing proved to be enjoyable.

The important part is the puzzles though which are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ace.
