Hey man, just like, enjoy the suffering and then enjoy being a literal god until the next league where the suffering starts again.

Man, this game is perfect for some long hangouts with your buddies with something pretty auto-pilotable in the background.

Where do I even begin with reviewing Stellaris is the question I posed myself staring at this box seeing how I've played it ever since it came out and the game has MASSIVELY changes over time for better and for worse also attempting to simply review the base game at this point for me is impossible as I've only really played the game with all of the DLC or most of them.

I'd describe Stellaris in its current form as a weird sort of broken, where playing optimally and not immersing yourself into the RP of your current chosen empire and background and act according to them, is absolutely dreadful. Allow me to expand on what I believe is the current big problems with the game.

Playing tall or wide has very little effect on what you actually will be doing for 90% of the time, which is micro-managing your planets to maximise your research and alloy production to the extent of being willing to sacrifice everything else. The micro is particularity horrible when you finish a massive war of conquest as you need to immediately fix everything the AI has absolutely broken in it's misguided attempt to build a "well functioning world".

The difficulty when you're playing even at Grand Admiral is a joke, as soon as you have the basics down of min-maxing alloy and research production you're basically ready to embark on your journey of High aggression Grand Admiral play.

I would definitely recommend still giving the game a go, especially if you're reading this in the future where Paradox decided that it was finally time to fix the broken AI, hopefully with or shortly after/before the upcoming Federation expansion.

Wow this became longer, thanks for coming to my TED-Talk.

At this point in time there's barely any excuse to not own this game. It regularly goes on sale for up to 75% off and the game's packed with content. The game has been updated and polished for the last two years to this wonderful experience we have today.
I myself picked this game up for 9.99€ and I've gotten over 500 hours of gameplay out of this game.
Even if this game turns out to not be your taste, the game costs about as much as a pizza so what's really to lose.
