Edited Review.

Monster Hunter: World (the 5th Generation in the franchise).

This game went through a lot on the PC platform, since August of 2018 and the Dev. Team is fixing almost every game breaking issue. (This explains the mixed reviews).

In previous games, you start the game, create a character, gather items, fish and hunt, and repeat, every rank has its own load of Monsters, they're very challenging and enjoyable to fight. There was basically no story back then, if a problem happens...kill a monster.. if you like a monster....kill it, if someone is stealing your honey....kill it....and so on. At some point it will become grindy and repetitive....RNG was a pain. Lots of that changed in here.

In Monster Hunter: World they for once added an actual story with NPCs revolving around it.

You start, create your character and start, you gather & hunt. Every encounter will have its own purpose with exception to few. As you progress you'll find yourself achieving higher ranks, and so fight new monster or even previous monster but harder and much rewarding.

You craft gear, combine items and use the farm to make sure you never lack the essentials.

To each armor there are different skills, and so making and armor based on look (fashion hunting) or mixed set (skill based) is very possible.

There are 14 weapons, each is unique, but all of them fall below two type: Melee or Ranged.

Each will have its own playstyle, and each can be played however you want as long as you have the correct skills set. Some can output very high damage, others can be very defensive and some can be used as support (keep in mind ANY weapon can be used as one of those).

You also have a companion that helps you very well...they're talking cats....Palicos .

====
Pros:
====

- The Graphics are amazing (comparing it to any previous generation) It is too good to be real.

- The music is special, some fights have their own unique music and some give you anxiety when you hear them.

- Multiplier is a thing, previous games you could have 4 people in a room, now you could have up to 16, but a quest can have up to 4 hunters with scaling difficulty. You can join other during their hunts or even fire and SOS flare to let others join you if you find yourself in trouble.

- Controls are very flexible, supporting all types of controllers (as long as it is supported by Steam) and Mouse & Keyboard (which can be optimized even further with Macros).

- 14 weapons --> plenty of possible play styles.

- Solo gameplay....yes you're NOT forced to be online to play.

- Grinding is NOT as heavy as previous games, there are specific quests that give much higher chance than regular quests to give rare items. (We're talking about up to 16% drop rate).

- Free Updates, the game has been getting free update since it release, last update was released already, the next one is a payed Expansion almost as big as the base game.

- Mods, Capcom stated its not with nor against modding., there are plenty of mods out there, but if you ever consider cheating please do it offline.

Cons:
======

- PC Optimization is a bit lacking. It took 6 Months for them to enable actual HD Textures (30 GB aside from the base game). The game CPU usage is still not optimized....I highly recommend using Special K mode to resolve that issue.

- Content Delay, PC was released 8-ish months after consoles, however now we have almost everything the consoles have (with exception to exclusives).

- Hackers sometimes ruin the hunts, but you can easily kick them out if you're the Quest leader or the Session leader.

- Previous games had PLENTY of content....this one is lacking them since the monsters and everything else was designed from scratch. But this issue will be solved with Iceborn release.

=====

I have been a fan of the Franchise since 2004-2005, This game is innovation. it is very addictive, and kinda repetitive but as you make friends and hunt with others or even alone you will always find something new or different to do.

Can't wait for Iceborn and G/Master Rank, returning monster and NEW monsters and MUCH MORE.
