Short and sweet, like cake.
Eat it, for it is good.

This is not a game that does anything particularly different or groundbreaking, and I am perfectly okay with that. Where it really shines for me is through it's distinctive visual style, dark atmosphere, and intense combat underpinned by an absolutely banging metal soundtrack.

As a fan of Lovecraft's works I enjoyed the overall theme and designs of the enemies, weapons and world. The art design is excellent, and the comic book style lends itself perfectly to the setting. The use of darkness throughout the game was particularly good, making some sections genuinely terrifying to navigate.
The combat is fast paced, claustrophobic and intense. If you don't like being locked in small rooms with heaps of enemies, this probably isn't going to be for you. Weapon variety is great, with different forks of upgrades for each weapon that drastically change the function and appearance.
The levels are mostly short and sweet but numerous, plunging you through a variety of environments and pitting you against progressively more challenging and varied enemies.
The story takes a secondary role here, told through occasional animated cutscenes and story hints scattered around the maps. While not the most cohesive story, it serves it's role well enough for a game that focuses mainly around the slaying of creatures of the unknown. Don't go into it expecting a complex narrative experience.
My only real gripe was a portion of incredibly difficult platforming sections towards the end of the game, which I struggled with immensely despite the devs being reasonably generous with the amount of attempts you get. Other than that, I loved the campaign and thought the difficulty and progression was paced well, playing on hard I always felt challenged but capable.
Additionally, the endless mode provides some entertainment when you want to jump straight into the action, and New Game+ offers some fun (and painful) modifiers for the gameplay.

Overall, Forgive Me Father has quickly become one of my favourites of the genre.
If you like Lovecraft, shooters and metal, then you can't really go wrong.

An interesting and thought-provoking game.
The gameplay is good, without being exceptional. The gunplay feels nice and the enemies are decently tough on hardcore mode, but not especially challenging. This game is more about the atmosphere and story than the combat.
The visuals are decent, with a style strongly reminiscent of HalfLife 2 or Bioshock Infinite. The great use of lighting and darkness lends to the isolated, abandoned atmosphere that is present throughout. For a game consisting of mostly industrial environments, it felt quite pretty.

The story is subtle and largely implied by piecing together hints of a bigger picture through writings left around the world, save for a few surreal sequences that raise as many questions as they answer. Without giving away too much, this game does surrealist atmosphere quite well, blending elements of sci-fi and modern history in a unique way. While the story is abstract and at times confusing, I think it all comes together as an intriguing experience that leaves you thinking.

My main issues:
Turning the crosshair off does not remove the white dot when your weapon is holstered, nor is there any way to disable hud or have "dynamic" hud. This hurts the overall immersion of the game (albeit only slightly).
No option for German dialogue with English subtitles. Again, this would really help for immersion in a game about German characters!
Minor issues, such as some interactable objects not having any sound when dropped, posters not aligned with walls etc. Easy to overlook, but attention to detail goes a long way for a game like this.

Having said that, despite some minor flaws and a slight lack of polish, I enjoyed the overall atmosphere and story of the game, and would recommend it if you are after something short and sweet, sort of like a fine dessert or an art-house film.

In my opinion the RRP is a bit too steep for the amount of content so perhaps wait for a sale, but having received it in the humble bundle I am happy to have experienced it.

Thoroughly recommend to anyone who might not consider an extreme sports game, but likes high speed racers such as Wipeout, F-Zero etc. This may scratch an itch you never knew you had!

Received in humble bundle, overlooked it initially as it is not the sort of game I would normally think about playing, but boy has it surprised me. The slick drum & bass soundtrack mixed with the fast paced, reflex-testing gameplay is an absolute winner. It's so much fun pushing the limits and trying to bomb the courses as fast as you can, incredibly satisfying when you pull off a clean run, and conversely sickening when the crunch of impact inevitably occurs.
The game offers a great amount of content, with a career mode that spans 4 distinct biomes, plus an additional 4 career+ biomes after you progress to a certain point.
On top of this are daily challenges, multiplayer lobbies, a huge selection of bike parks, practically limitless custom content maps, and an extensive array of customisation unlocks.
I wasn't expecting to get such an adrenaline kick from this, funnily enough i've ended up playing it more than the game I initially got the bundle for! Nonetheless I'm glad I found this gem, and happily would have payed the asking price to support the devs had I known about it previously!
Gameplay: 10
Visuals: 8
Audio: 10
Replayability: 10
Even if you don't like drum & bass, pick it up and enjoy the scenery :)

This game ticks all the boxes for me.
Retro style fps combat with ranged medieval weaponry and a variety of enemies? Check.
Beautiful and distinct natural biomes mixed with elements of folklore and horror? Check.
Self-paced story with interesting level design that rewards exploration? Check.
Dark brooding atmosphere, with quaint synthy\folk soundtrack and crazy characters? I was enthralled from start to finish.
All these elements combine into something rarely nostalgic that I can't quite put my finger on, that fine edge between jank and brilliance that just tickles me so.
This game is testament to the fact that even with simple visuals one person's artistic vision can create unique memorable journeys.
Thanks to the dev, and I hope you continue weaving stories!

I like this game :) I thought I'd check it out after playing Robotality's other game Pathway, which I very much enjoyed.
This game is clearly a little rougher around the edges, but still has it's own charm. The art is on point, I love the aesthetic style and it just got cooler as the game progressed. The writing is just okay, but the characters are still engaging enough to want to see what happens next.
As others have said, the combat can drag on a bit, but I found it to still be enjoyable once I got used to it. Mainly it is just annoying when the rng gods decide that your whole team will perform poorly on every action, but then sometimes it is the enemies performing poorly so ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
All in all a good game, if you're itching for a cheap, simple sci-fi tbs to sink a few hours into then look no further.

Probably one of my favourite games of all time, and it's not even fully released yet!
Forage for food and resources, build up and relax in your handcrafted settlements, or make a vessel, set out to sea and prepare for the threats of the greater unknown.
This game is a self-directed adventure that let's you set the pace. Neither casual nor hardcore, it hits a perfect balance of being both relaxing and exhilarating. Never let your guard down, even when all seems safe...
Fantastic solo or with a friend(s).
I can't wait to see where this ends up going.

It's hard to go wrong with Mount & Blade... Same core mechanics and derpyness that we all love, done even better this time around! It's obviously still in it's early stages, but it can only go up from here =D

Same masterpiece you remember, looking just as good as you remember thanks to updated textures and lighting. Classics never go out of style.

This game and it's mods will either win you over with charm or sicken you with it's potential to consume time. Still the best medieval rpg out, until M&B II Bannerlord takes the crown...
