Few things to note. Firstly, while the voice actors seem to be native English speakers, I assume the game creators are not as the dialogue doesn't always make total sense. Definitely need a translator to run through some of the stuff.

As to the voices themselves, it's comically bad but I absolutely love that lmao. Big Jim is extremely over the top and Kovalsky's humour doesn't even make sense given his situation, so it's absolutely ridiculous. It works out.

My gripes are: the museum is the worst lmao. I haaated that level. I don't mind the big ones! I liked the warehouse! But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the museum, holy hell.

Also we should be able to see how much money we have earned. And be able to buy more goofy QOL stuff for the house; as it goes Kovalsky's house automatically becomes much more furnished but let me add MORE. Especially for Dexter!!!

Finally, I think the Tommy level should've amounted to more, but that's just me.

What caught me most off guard: how FANTASTIC the soundtrack is. I've been listening to Lulu Suicide's "She Deserves a Better Life" on repeat for days now lmao.

Biggest surprise of the game: Big Jim is black???

4/5; 9/10. It's worth the price tag imo especially with more content been promised. Pick it up if you love these types of sims like I do.

I always appreciate games that keeps things simple. Like there's no fancy graphics here, no ridiculous control scheme, it's just poker solitaire with goofy mechanics. It's all luck based, as poker often is, with obviously the skill being in how you set up your joker abilities.

It's a great idea, with a very polished execution. Highly recommend.

Glory to Arstotzka, citizen.

What's to say that hasn't already been said to death about this game? The time squish + ever increasing amount of information to check for each and every person build up and really push anxiety on you. The never ending need to spend more and more money on staying alive making sure your required amount you must do to survive increases constantly. And the ever present sense that something isn't quite right here... it's all perfect and is delivered flawlessly.

The ONE CRITICISM that can be made, is that I've many trans friends who have told me the body scan "this isn't your gender" stuff doesn't exactly feel great for many of them. So that part could've been handled better for sure, but it is what it is.

Even still, I say: Pick it up. You won't regret it.

Turnip Boy said Trans Rights.

But as for the game itself... I mean look, the base game is better. Way more fun and polished to its core, whereas this game tries to be a Gungeon archetype without really understanding what makes those. The "randomness" doesn't really work when the levels themselves have a lot of presets, and so instead you're just annoyed searching for every door you specifically need. A lot of it is super grindy. And some weapons are just so bad.

But I did still enjoy it. I mean I have what, 9 hours on it? You're turnip boy again, except this time he has a gun. Plus breaking the law as a mute weirdo turnip is always winner mentality

So it's still good. I definitely recommend it if for no other reason than because I love to support this dev team and their weird little ideas.

A truly excellent game that captures the vibe both of analogue horror masterpieces like Gemini Home Entertainment, as well as the mundanity of being a call centre worker being yelled at by idiots who don't know how to listen to your help. Yes I understand "leave out cream" sounds stupid, sir, but because you didn't do that, you've now gotta move out. Great job.

On top of that, I always maintain that vagueness is key to good horror; if the curtain is completely pulled back it becomes a lot harder for things to be genuinely creepy. Home Safety Hotline maintains this by having the "advice" be super vague on certain aspects (for example, my favourite, "WARNING: NEVER KILL A MOLE"), and the overall level of dread you feel when you fail and the callers briefly call you back...

10/10 game. Might be a little short for 20 bucks, but the voice acting makes it worth it and I'm all about rewarding indie devs who try new things.

All hail Supervisor Carol.

Early Access Review
Very fun game :). I have all the (current, since I'm sure more at come) achievements now, and I very much enjoyed the last week playing the hell out of this to get them. I loved tower defense type games back in the early 2000s and this scratched an itch nothing else really has. People compare this to kingdom two crowns a lot, and that is probably fair to an extent but honestly I found KTC kind of boring whereas this I played the hell out of.

So, YMMV! But for the current price of 9 dollars it's absolutely worth it.

A lot of people say this game is life changing etc, but I wouldn't go that far - but that's just me! The point, really, is just that it's beautiful. It's very much a game that's all about telling its story, but slowly. Over time. To the point where if I tell you too much here, or really ANYTHING, I feel like I'd be spoiling it.

It's a great game to pickup. Just, you know, make sure you can handle -some- scares. It's not bad on that front but I do know there's one specific one that... well. You'll see.

Hard recommend.

It's the guards committing sexual assault, honestly.

I can deal with high difficulty! I love games that are ridiculously tough, this is right up my alley in that way. But the other stuff.... no thanks.

But that's just me. Your mileage absolutely may vary.

Edit: I did go back and finish it. The game itself still is super good, so I mean, I'm gonna change it to a recommend. Just, yeah, be warned about this aspect.

I will always, always, always try out games with new ideas. No matter how goofy those ideas may be! Goofy like, perhaps, playing as a scientist with no legs and one arm, who has the right arm dexterity of a GOD, who's more strapped than Doom Guy, taking out an alien parasite singlehandedly.

And this game delivers! The mechanics are smooth (with the possible exception of the "stealth" parts, I definitely could've done without those), the backstory is all interesting, the fact you really think your character is a HUGE prick by the end... all great. I give this an EASY 8/10 (-2 for the stealth nonsense rofl).

And on top of it all: Gianni Matragrano, ladies and gentlemen. Put some damn respect on that voice actors name. We've seen him in such classics as Ultrakill, the Seven Deadly Sins abridged series and, of course, "that's f---ing football". And now he's here! Super happy he's getting work.

Anyway. Pick up this game. It's 10~ dollars for an easy 3-4~ hours of play time. Which is maybe a LITTLE expensive but, truthfully, I think it's worth it. Because original ideas should always be rewarded.

There are minor gripes to be had, such as an obnoxious inventory system and a LOT of backtracking because of said inventory system. Yes, I understand it's deliberate, but to quote Yahtzee Croshaw: "Annoying on purpose is STILL ANNOYING".

But. If you can look past this, this game is a beautiful, tragic story about love and death, dreams and reality, generational trauma... it's all there. And it's all played it fantastically in a story that leaves your own interpretation as the answer.

Just, you know. Maybe learn some German first; it'll make your life a lot easier.
