So far, so peak. Will update again when I'm finished but I'm loving it so far.

I bought into this via the collection because I've wanted to play the Generals games again for the longest time. Unfortunately the game is pretty much unplayable if you have a two screen setup as you won't be able to scroll efficiently in the direction that your other screen sits on because the mouse will fly off the game screen and stop scrolling. In addition to that, I was unable to find any way to re-bind keys within the game. I was hoping the navigate around the two screen issue by enabling WASD scrolling but there's no option. I suppose I could find a way to mod around all of this? However, for the sake of this review, I'm speaking about the game in its base form.

Still a great game but you're going to have to put in some work to make it palatable on a modern PC.

A seriously strange game. But I felt it was a likable kind of strange.

I remember being fairly optimistic about this when I bought it back in 2014 (glider was pretty neat) but the game was swallowed up by its own ambitions and eventually just became free to play

tl;dr Only buy it on sale if the story and characters were a selling point for you in the past. Definitely buy if you just wanna hit up a looter shooter that feels fantastic.

!!Vague spoilers ahead!!

Borderlands 3 is excellent from the gameplay perspective but the main story was so dreadfully bad. Terminally online antagonists could have been done well but everything the Calypso twins did felt incredibly dated and cringey. The story beats genuinely suck too. It's literally just the entire gang being 3 steps behind the antagonists every time. There are virtually no wins, only draws at best, all the way to the end. Needless character deaths for ~d r a m a~ and some are even done to prop up a character as the future of the franchise - only problem is that no one likes this character because they left every shred of likability and development for this character on the cutting room floor.

This game could have been genuinely excellent if the people overseeing it didn't make such stupid decisions. I can't even blame the writers entirely at this point because I've peeped some of the stuff that was cut out through the Directors/Designer's Cut DLC - so I at least know they were THINKING about how to do the story right but ultimately had their contributions chopped up and treated like an afterthought in the process.

One last complaint - I really don't like how the game fails to make the Vault Hunters feel like they're actually involved in any way. A cutscene happens out of nowhere and you don't even get to appear in it or be acknowledged until it goes back to the normal gameplay view. I'm talking like - they can do a full 360 view of the area in cinematic and there's no trace of your VH - not even with default cosmetics - anywhere within the scene. Kinda hampers player investment I feel.

DLC has been good so far but I was so annoyed by the ending of the core story that I've shelved the game for now...

Typically I feel I have an obligation to NOT recommend a gacha game but honestly BLEACH: Brave Souls has always been one of the most generous games in the gacha vein and can very feasibly be F2P'd.

My personal experience with this game has been mostly positive, having first started playing around 2015-2016 when it first dropped for global. The game has come a long way and I truly feel like those that supported it really did a lot not only for the game but the anime series in general. Wasn't sure if there'd ever be a chance for a TYBW anime but we finally got it. I like to think that the success of BBS helped with that since we eventually reached a point where TYBW characters that weren't part of the original Bleach voice castings started coming out. Bleach fans had a lot of hoping and coping to do in the last few years but BBS felt like the most concrete representation of those hopes.

Back to the game itself though. It does a lot that I like compared to other mobile games. The gacha element has a seperate pool for equipment so if you roll for characters you'll get just that instead of some 4-5 star piece of equipment on the 10 rolls. The game plays like a top down action game with a basic attack, three power attacks, and one special move on most characters. If you're playing on computer you'll probably want a controller. Game feels great though and captures Bleach's combat feel pretty well. Progression is generally pretty easy up to the 6 star, 200 level point. Some of the other progression systems beyond that are complex and convoluted and really just exist to give people a reason to invest more into their favorite units.

Above all the game is very generous and will give a lot of freebies with summons and powerful characters. I recommend making sure you check the game out around the July timeframe for the anniversary events because that's when you can usually score the most units with the various promotions going on - sometimes you're even able to pick a pool of characters you'd like to have. Other times you can even specifically choose a character you want. It's quite nice.

This is turning out longer than I planned it so I'll just leave it at this - if you love Bleach you should consider giving this a chance.

X5 is still amazing. X6 had cool things going on with it but ultimately felt like it had poor level design and some really aggravating boss fights where you don't even feel any triumph when you finally defeat them.

X7 is... yeah I don't think I like X7...

X8 is okay.
