I finally understand...this game is a masterpiece.

**Edit**

I really did feel this way, and I still sort of do, but this game needs to be for everyone and it just isn't. It can be REALLY unforgiving at times. I definitely understand that I probably don't know every skill or utilize every opportunity available to me. But some places are as brutal and inevitable as nature itself, and I understand that is quite the point of the game.

I very much do not enjoy "the exterior" and it almost made me quit, and I am understanding that there are most likely areas even worse than that.

I recommend using the workshop to soften the experience as much until you find the happy medium between destined mortality and ambitious endeavour. This will not make you a lesser being, it will be the key to access the endless fear and wonder this game can provide. Coop is pretty fun too.

Its good, its very fun, it will definitely get more polished as time goes on.

Monster variety needs a boost as endgame becomes a huge arkveld huntathon.

I never really got into KCD1, it felt a little sluggish, a little slower paced, a little story heavy, never really got the hooks in me. I think the feeling they were attempting in 1, they absolutely nailed in 2. The combat will not be for everyone its true, but I find the story a lot more interesting, the systems and mechanics work really well with each other, and the progression is really rewarding with the fun smithing and potion-brewing.
Most importantly for me though is how incredibly gorgeous and convincing the world is. The vegetation, the lighting, just how the world is shaped is so very enjoyable to explore. So much of it feels just a like a peaceful medieval hiking simulator where you pick herbs with your dog and periodically shoot people with a crossbow. Anyone who is a fan of getting deeply immersed in a world can really get blissfully lost just wandering around the world, very very reccomended!

I like stress horror, but this game is REALLY stressful. In my mind I compare it to Dead Space, except instead of advance futuristic heavy-weaponry, you get a cedar board and hypertension.

Gothic-horror extraction shooter? Uh...yes please.

EDIT 1: I love this game so much, I need it to succeed. Not quite an extraction shooter in the tarkov sense (with the tons of items and gear). In reality there is not actually a lot of items you need to extract to keep apart from experience points used to level up. So in a sense its a very cohesive mash up between extraction shooter, rogue-lite, and some souls-like mechanics. One thing I need to emphasise is combat feels REALLY good. Guns are punchy, enemies are plentiful, and the atmosphere is dark and depressing.

Do yourself a favour and turn all sounds to about 80% except the SFX at 100%, then turn up that volume so the gunshots rattle your brain around in your skull.

EDIT 2: Nevermind there's a ton you need to extract.

+++ GAME IS FUN
+ Many gameplay elements very satisfyingly come together
+ Tons of gear to play around with, which you can swap out akin to modern action rpg's
+ Meta progression is very satisfying
+ Music is pumpy, retro and catchy.

+/- Some mechanics are not really explained too clearly? but hand holding is annoying so its not really a minus just might
confuse some people.
