Just finished Part 1. Taking a bit of a break before continuing the Journey.

World
The game perfectly captures the anime and expands so much on the world that Akira Toriyama has dreamed up. Most NPCs are voiced and they even got the VAs from the Anime to do the voices here. The side quests are very meaty and provide a huge sense of progression, especially when you see the results of your actions slowly build up the main hub of the game. The sandy environments are very distinct despite seeing vast swaths of land covered in the same *sand*. Each region has different fauna and geographical features that spice up things.

Vehicles
Piloting a vehicle is very fun. Each vehicle has its own purpose and the variants of the main vehicles provide a different flavor from the base vehicles. Modifying the vehicles are very satisfying and they give you plenty of options on how to play each vehicle. Your allies will also be able to provide support here by way of active abilities that are subject to cooldowns.

Beelzebub
Other than exploring the overworld, there are two kinds of levels where you have to play as Beelz:
  • Action-platformer segments that are supplemented by rpg-lite elements. Combat is pretty standard here, it reminds me of PS2-era games. Your allies will be able to support you here through active abilities as well.

  • Stealth segments remind me quite a bit of MGS, especially the Afghanistan levels MGSV. You can do stealth takedowns and sneak around them. Some alternative traversal options are also there. It's a pretty light experience and is in no way a bad thing. I do understand the frustrations some players might feel here due to the vastly slower pace than the rest of the game.

Overall
I've just finished the dam arc as of the time of writing this review, so there's still plenty for me to see. The game takes a while to open up, a bit like the length of part 1 for Days Gone. This is definitely a relaxed experience moving the main quest forwards but still provides quite a challenge when you want to do everything there is to do in the game.

I've had the game for quite a while but I've just given it a go. It's really great!! Grind isn't so bad plus summoning minions is really fun.

the game runs just great! really excited to play this after getting bored with playing GTA: San Andreas all over again. Everyone who says that the game doesn't work is just an idiot. Just use your XBOX sign-in when it prompts you to log-into your GFWL.

The humor in this game always catches me off-guard. The writing is excellent and loot is plentiful. Choices actually matter in this game-- role-paying is really complex.

However, since they're stick people, you can't really see your in-game pants :(

10/10 Would buy DLC
