Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend.

No DRM. No micro-transaction BS. Excellent writing, voice acting, and Mo-Cap performances. Choices actually matter. The "evil" options are actually as fleshed out as the good ones which actually makes them worth exploring.

I didn't expect to like this game but I fell in love with it after a few hours of playing. I can see myself replaying this game multiple times trying out different character personalities, classes, and approaches. I almost never replay games so that is quite the accomplishment. It has easily entered my top 5 games of all time.

So far, I have around 150 hours in the game. I'm halfway through Act 3 on my main play-through, reached the beginning of Act 3 on my Evil Dark Urge run, and started a third playthrough to learn the controller controls on the Steam Deck. Each playthrough I have stumbled across new content that I had somehow missed entirely on my earlier runs and I thought I was being quite thorough.

The only issues I have come across are relatively minor.

  1. There is no pausing. This can be tedious at times and makes it harder to give precise orders, but you get used to it quickly. Yes, there is a turn-based mode that you can use to make actions and movements more precise, but it still isn’t quite the same as issuing commands from a pause screen and having everything play out simultaneously like in Solasta.
  2. Dealing with companions at camp is tedious. I wish I could instantly swap out party members without walking a mile across camp to remove and add a companion. I also don't like that I can't access their inventory if they are not in my party. This is particularly odd due to how easily you can send any object to camp if you are overburdened.
  3. A few miscellaneous bugs in the late game, characters becoming invisible during dialogue, and small inconsistencies in the Dark Urge path.
  4. Switching from keyboard to mouse is not smooth so using a hybrid of controls on the Steam Deck is not really viable. There is a 1-4 second delay every time you switch controls. This is a shame since I find the movement on the controller excellent, but I prefer the mouse and keyboard for pretty much everything else. Hopefully, a mod or update will make this smoother in the future.
